By MATT BROWN,
STATS EditorRyan Braun continues to mash Philadelphia Phillies pitching, and that may be likely to continue Sunday with Kyle Kendrick on the mound.Kendrick, however, will be looking to pick up where he left off in his stellar last outing.Braun will look to help the Milwaukee Brewers take three of four games from the Phillies as the teams conclude their series at Miller Park. After plating 13 runs to take the first two games of this weekend's set, the Brewers (54-65) fell 4-3 on Saturday, but Braun didn't get the memo to stop hitting. The reigning NL MVP went 3 for 4 with his fourth home run of the series, a two-run shot.Braun is batting .565 (13 for 23) with six homers, 10 RBIs, nine runs scored and a .630 on-base percentage in six games this season versus Philadelphia (55-65), homering in each of the last five. If he goes deep again Sunday, he will become the first Brewers player to homer in four straight games overall since Prince Fielder did it July 30-Aug....
BEST OF MAXIM
How long had it been since Ryan Braun took early batting practice? "It's been a long time," Braun told reporters Thursday after doing exactly that with a group of Milwaukee Brewers teammates before the series opener against Philadelphia at Miller Park. "I think it's the second time ever in my career." Braun figured it was time to try something different...
In baseball, it is usually a good thing to know where the ball is and it appears from the below clip that Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is going to do some talking with teammate Jonathan Lucroy about ball location the next time around. In Saturday's Phillies/Brewers game, Ryan hit a deep drive in the 4th inning which Lucroy thought was a home run.Lucroy's blunder caused an...
Ryan Braun hit his NL-leading 32nd home run, Yovani Gallardo won his fourth straight start, and the Milwaukee Brewers extended their home winning streak to nine with a 6-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
Braun, Gallardo and Nyjer Morgan each drove in two runs for the Brewers.
After Braun struck out with the bases loaded in Milwaukee's four-run fourth...
He's terrible. Then he's wonderful. Then he's really terrible. Then he's really wonderful. I've supported Kendrick through some criticism. I've also suggested the Phillies finally cut his rotation spot for good. Up, down, up, down, up down.
That has been Kyle Kendrick for the Phillies this season. Today was one of the brilliant ones, as...
MILWAUKEE - There was a lot to be happy about with Kyle Kendrick's start Sunday against the Brewers, but for Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, one thing in particular stood out. "He got Braun out, he gets a medal for that," Manuel said of Brewers' left fielder Ryan Braun. Braun came into the game hitting 6-for-11 with three home runs in the first three games...
Kyle Kendrick of the Philadelphia Phillies is the 5-slot option. How does the five for the Yankees match up with the locals? The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my recent coverage linked below.
TAL’S HANDY STATS
I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number...
The Phils’ bullpen allows another game to get away in the eighth inning, via a grand slam home run, as the Phils lose to the Brew Crew, 7-4.
The Brewers took the lead in the first as, with two men out, Ryan Braun hits a solo home run, his thirtieth home run of the season, giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead. The Brewers then made it a 2-0 lead as Aramis Ramirez followed with a solo home...
Philadelphia Phillies (55-63) at Milwaukee Brewers (53-65)
Kyle Kendrick (5-9, 4.54) vs. Randy Wolf (3-9, 5.65)
Time: 2:10, Miller Park
Media: Twitter and Facebook
A Phillies win today splits the series. Kyle Kendrick and Randy Wolf have both struggled this season.
The goal for Kendrick is to keep Ryan Braun in the yard. The outfielder has been...
Kyle Kendrick pitched three-hit ball for eight innings and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 Sunday after waiting out a rare rain delay at Miller Park.
The game was held up for 7 minutes when showers popped up in the first inning with the retractable roof still open. It takes about 10 minutes for the roof to fully shut, and the game was delayed with the Brewers...
Mini-Mart came up with an unlikely two-run home run to help the Phillies to a victory today. (AP)
The Phillies salvaged a four-game split today by mashing the Brew Crew on their way to an 8-0 victory. The win allowed the Phils to finish their road trip at 4-3.
KENDRICK THE STARTER
- There is a strong belief among many fans and pundits that Kyle Kendrick would be better served pitching...
A rare event this year for the Phillies has been having all aspects of their game working together at the same time. In an 8-0 win over the Brewers, the pitching, offense and defense all performed very well.
On the mound, Kyle Kendrick took one more positive step towards earning a spot in next year’s rotation. He went 8 innings, allowing only 3 hits, 1 walk and no runs. It was...
Hamels saved the day again yesterday, with help from the offense, breaking a three game losing streak in a 4-3 win for the Phils. The Phillies had an early lead with John Mayberry Jr’s two run homer, and stayed strong with Erik Kratz’s monster that reached the second deck seats in left. Chase Utley scored on Howards double in the fourth to give the Phils their winning run...
Final: Phillies 8, Brewers 0.
WP: Kyle Kendrick (6-9, 4.20 ERA) LP: Randy Wolf (3-10, 5.69 ERA).
One of the most unlikely players to kickoff the game scoring-wise this afternoon was none other than second baseman Michael Martinez. Martinez came into today's action with just seven hits in a total of 54 2012 at-bats, and managed to take former Phillie, Randy Wolf, deep to left...
