Atlanta Braves reliever Jonny Venters was removed in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers because of a sprained left elbow.
Venters replaced Jordan Walden at the start of the inning in his first appearance since March 13 , when he forced in a run against Miami by walking four straight batters.
He allowed a leadoff homer to Don Kelly that tied the score 2-2. Jhonny Peralta struck out, Bryan Pena walked and Ramon Santiago hit a go-ahead triple to right. Venters threw a run-scoring wild pitch and was replaced by Andrew Russell.
Venters went 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 66 games for the Braves last season.

This is my favorite Brave, Jonny Venters. That is his left elbow. Apparently right now it is hurt.
I don't like this.

Evan Gattis, a 26-year-old prospect who spent four years out of baseball, has claimed the final spot on the Braves' bench, answering one of the last remaining questions as the team prepares for Opening Day.
With Brian McCann out with a shoulder injury, Gattis will backup Gerald Laird, though with Laird nursing a left calf strain and...

That familiar face over at third base is gone.
Time for the Atlanta Braves to go through another changing of the guard.
Goodbye, Chipper Jones.
Hello, Jason Heyward and the Brothers Upton.
The Braves head into a new era with the same high expectations - make the playoffs, contend for a championship - even though Jones won't be holding down a spot in the middle of the lineup...
The 2013 season will be a strange one for Atlanta Braves fans. With Chipper Jones no longer manning third base and hitting in the three hole, the organization has seen some overturn. Newly acquired brothers Upton promise to bring a new spark to the outfield and Chris Johnson and Juan Francisco will platoon to try to provide some of the production of the departed future hall of...
