It is appearing more likely that Formula One star Rubens Barrichello will be able to make the switch to the IZOD IndyCar Series.

Barrichello, 39, has tested twice for KV Racing Technology this offseason, including last weekend at Infineon Raceway. But today, the AP passed along word of a report from the Estado de Sao Paulo (one of Brazil's biggest newspapers), which says that the 11-time Grand Prix race winner has landed a sponsorship deal with construction equipment rental company Brasil Maquinas -- enabling him to go IndyCar racing in 2012.

Barrichello has set a press conference for Thursday, presumably to confirm his drive.

While it's always a bit iffy to throw a foreign article into Google Translate and expect everything to make sense, here's a translated version of the Estado's piece so you can see for yourself. Note that in the lead paragraph, the translation says that Barrichello has "the money needed to compete in all stages."

Does this mean that Barrichello will contest all the races this year, including the four ovals?
