This entry of news and notes for the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 from Iowa focuses in on Joe Gibbs Racing driver Brian Scott and his #11 Dollar General Toyota. Scott is coming off a 7th place finish at Darlington.
DOLLAR GENERAL DARLINGTON RECAP: Darlington resulted in Dollar General’s first trip to victory lane since they teamed with Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2012 season. Both DG Toyotas put up a strong fight at the “Track Too Tough to Tame,” with Joey Logano and the No. 20 team claiming the win and Brian Scott and the No. 11 team tallying a solid seventh place finish under the lights at Darlington. Scott’s seventh place finish advanced him three spots to 13th in the Nationwide Series championship point standings.
DOLLAR GENERAL DUO AT IOWA: This weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway will feature two Dollar General Toyotas. Scott will sport the classic black on yellow paint scheme while his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Darrell Wallace Jr. will pilot a reverse yellow on black scheme. Scott has three career Nationwide Series starts at Iowa Speedway. The Boise, Idaho native notched a top-10 finish in his last attempt at the Newton, Iowa track.

From the Cockpit:
Brian Scott: “We were really excited to get Dollar General to victory lane last week at Darlington with Joey. I wish it was with our No. 11 team, but we’ve got some great momentum built up from our seventh place run. We are working hard to get another strong finish at Iowa Speedway this weekend. This is our first stand-alone event of the season, so it’s a good opportunity to let our series shine. The grandstands at Iowa are always packed, and that just makes the show even more exciting. We’re looking forward to getting Dollar General another good finish and moving ourselves further into the point race this weekend.”
From the Pit Box:
Kevin Kidd: “Iowa Speedway is very similar to Richmond in terms of setup and approach. The biggest distinguishing trait of Iowa is the bump in turns one and two which can be a handful to get through. It’s a great mix between short track racing and higher speeds. It’s a well-designed track and the crowds there are always spectacular. They do a great job of filling the seats there. Every time our series has been to Iowa Speedway it’s been a sellout.”
