Darvin Ham, a former Atlanta player who spent the last two seasons on the Los Angeles Lakers' staff, has been named a Hawks assistant coach. Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer on Saturday said Ham ''has a great feel for the game.'' Budenholzer is completing his duties as a San Antonio Spurs assistant through the NBA Finals. He was named the Hawks' coach on May 28. Quin Snyder, a former assistant with the Lakers and 76ers and former coach at Missouri, was Budenholzer's first hire. Ham, from Texas Tech, played for the Hawks in the 2002-03 season. He also played with Denver, Indiana, Washington, Milwaukee and Detroit in his eight-year career. Before joining the Lakers, Ham was the head coach of the New Mexico Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League.

Giant San Antonio Spurs pizza is the best thing you’ll see today

Apparently, Big Lou’s Pizza in San Antonio has the biggest pizza oven in Texas. (I’m basing this on a comment on Reddit, so take it with a grain of salt, or Parmesan cheese.) At any rate, Big Lou’s has an enormous oven and is the home of the 42-inch pizza. To get ready for Thursday night’s NBA Finals Game 4 between the hometown Spurs and the Miami Heat. the pizzeria created...

The defending champs didn’t stay down for long. With their backs against the wall, the Miami Heat rebounded to post a strong 109-93 victory against the San Antonio Spurs and reclaim home-court advantage in the series. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James awoke from dreadful slumps to each score more than 30 points, attacking relentlessly and efficiently against a Spurs team that just didn’t...

GIFs: Manu Ginobili screaming like Gregg Popovich is even more funny in slow motion

Manu Ginobili's impersonation of Gregg Popovich was pretty spot on, not to mention hilarious. But it's even more funny in slow motion, we've decided.

Dwyane Wade roared back into form in Game 4 of the NBA Finals to push the Miami Heat to a 109-93 victory. Wade nearly paced Miami with 32 points to help tie the series against the San Antonio Spurs at two games apiece. LeBron James paced the Heat with 33 points after being shut down in Game 3. Miami has regained homecourt advantage. A crucial Game 5 will play out in San Antonio...

Time for Spurs to respond after Game 4 defeat to Heat

Spurs, your turn. If only it was so easy for San Antonio. The elementary analysis of the 2013 NBA Finals says the Spurs are due for a victory in Sunday night's Game 5. Through the first four games they've gone back and forth with Miami, winning then losing to give us a 2-2 deadlock. But the Game 4 setback opens up a whole new round of issues, with the least troublesome...

Talking Spurs, NBA Finals with Project Spurs

Tonight, the NBA Finals makes its final turn for home in a critical Game Five faceoff in San Antonio between the Spurs and the Heat. The winner moves one win away from an NBA championship. I have been contributing throughout the Finals for our friends over at Project Spurs, learning that Manu Ginobili is quite the divisive issue for the Spurs fan base. My latest is contributing...

Fan makes Spurs-inspired giant pizza

We’re not sure what restaurant made this monstrosity of a pizza, using some olives, meats and some green peppers to make the team mascot, Larry O’Brien Trophy and Spurs logo on this table-sized delight that could feed a small village. Questions: Do they deliver, and is there a f–king box for that? H/T Deadpsin.

San Antonio Spurs fan makes giant Spurs pizza for Game 4

There is no better food to accompany a playoff game than pizza. Maybe wings, but you really can’t go wrong with a few slices of pizza while you root for your team to bring home a championship. A San Antonio Spurs fan who works at a pizza restaurant took that to another level on Thursday. [...]

San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green Sets NBA Finals Record For Three-Pointers

In front of former record holder, Ray Allen, and against the former record  holder’s team, the Miami Heat, Danny Green set a new NBA Finals record for three-pointers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. It would be Green’s fourth three-pointer of Game 5 against the Heat on Sunday that would mark his 23rd three-pointer [...]The post San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green Sets NBA Finals Record...

Spurs Danny Green becoming America’s man-crush

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. The San Antonio Spurs are not the most interesting or exciting NBA team around (and Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich likes it that way).  They’re not polarizing like the Miami Heat. People tune in to see them fall. And one of the keys to making the Heat fall is Spurs forward Danny Green. Danny Green has been a hero for the Spurs this NBA Finals, and...

Tim Duncan Throws It Down Over Mario Chalmers (Video)

Sunday was the day the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat met for Game 5 of the 2013 NBA Finals and in the first half it’s clearly been all about the San Antonio Spurs who have had a beautiful offense. While, the Miami Heat have struggled to form any kind of a semblance of an [...]The post Tim Duncan Throws It Down Over Mario Chalmers (Video) appeared first on The NBA Mistress.
