Mississippi State could not build on the momentum. Fresh off a victory in their Southeastern Conference tournament opener, the Bulldogs could not make it two straight wins. No. 13 seed MSU battled valiantly, before falling to fifth-seeded Tennessee 69-53 in a quarterfinal round tournament game played Thursday afternoon at Bridgestone Arena.

LSU will travel to take on Mississippi State to open SEC play this weekend. The Tigers should get their first real test of the 2013 season when the series kicks off tonight at 6:30 p.m. Cody Glenn also discusses his mindset headed into his first SEC start.
Mississippi State found Bridgestone Arena to its liking. The Bulldogs continued their strong play of late Wednesday night as MSU knocked off South Carolina 70-59 in an opening-round game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament played in the Music City.
In the first game of the SEC Tournament, Mississippi State got the 70-59 win over South Carolina.
The season didn't end the way Mississippi State had hoped. The Bulldogs were defeated by Tennessee in the second round of the SEC Tournament.
No. 8 ranked Mississippi State and 2nd ranked LSU tangle in a three-game Southeastern Conference series this weekend at Dudy Noble Field.
