The bus of a Minnesota Twins minor-league affiliate was involved in a fatal crash early Tuesday morning in Florida, according to Jacksonville.com.
The bus, which was taking players from Fort Myers, Fla., to Elizabethton, Tenn., collided with a car driving the wrong way on the interstate in Jacksonville. Both vehicles swerved to avoid the collision, according to the report, but the bus hit the car head-on. The driver, a male in his 20s, was killed.
"It sounds as if the other driver of the car was drunk and did not survive," said Dustin Morse, the Twins' director of baseball communications. "Police were on the scene almost immediately as they had received a call of a car going the wrong way on the highway and were headed that way."
