DETROIT Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera was ejected Sunday afternoon for questioning consecutive called strikes from home plate umpire Chad Fairchild, who then also quickly tossed Tigers manager Jim Leyland for his spirited protest. Theres some bad blood between the Tigers and Fairchild, who on July 11 also ejected Leyland after tossing Detroit reliever Luke Putkonen for throwing a pitch behind Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez. Those are Leylands lone ejections this season. After taking a second close called strike with the bases loaded and one out in the third inning, Cabrera looked away from Fairchild and appeared to mutter, Thats (blanking) horrible, bro. He used one of the magic words that will get players thrown out, but Cabrera did not get angry or demonstrative. He did nothing to show up Fairchild with theatrics.
