Some radio or TV personality (tough to tell) for Canisius women’s basketball is about to become an Internet sensation — or at least he should. Courtesy of Bob’s Blitz , comes this clip of Canisius freshman women’s basketball player Tiahana Mills draining a halfcourt buzzer beater to lift the Lady Golden Griffins over Siena. The shot gave hometown Canisius a 65-63 win in an afternoon affair played today at the Koessler Athletic Center in Buffalo. The shot itself is tremendous. Kudos to Mills for a clutch long-range bank for the winner. And, don’t get us wrong, we loooove buzzer beaters here at The Legend. But the magic of this clip is undeniably the call. The enthusiasm. The breathlessness. And the money line. I don’t even know if this was meant to be a spoof on “if you don’t know, you’d better ask somebody.” Whatever the motivation or derivation, IT IS TREMENDOUS. There’s something magical about the intonation and harmony of it all. Surely, this genius’s name will soon be revealed. Here are his long-to-be-remembered words on their own: “OHHHH, you didn’t now????” “You’d better caaall someboooooodyyyyyyyyy!” And here they are in the context of the video. Just phenomenal.
