The Huskies’ third baseman is hitting just .162 in his team’s first 15 games — he’s played in 11 — and has been prone to strikeouts early on in the season — he’s been fanned 14 times and walked just four. Of his six hits this summer, just one has gone for extra bases thus far, which was a double against the Harwich Mariners on June 18th. That double pushed across one of Siena’s two RBIs, with the other coming June 17th against the Orleans Firebirds. Originally, Siena was one of two Huskies playing in the Cape this summer, but Bobby Melley, who played for Hyannis, was released from his temporary contract after logging just three at-bats and no hits over the first four games of the season. Despite his early struggles, Siena will have a chance to impress on Monday when all 10 Cape League squad work out for scouts of every MLB team at Fenway Park. Bourne is set to begin batting practice around 9:45 a.m. and also participate in several drills during their 90-minute session. Following today’s workout, Siena should find plenty of opportunities to play, as the Braves will play nine games in the next nine days due to rain that has forced the rescheduling of games across Cape Cod. Their first game of that stretch will take place Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Chatham.
