Uniondale, NY -- During Tuesday night’s 5-1 drubbing of the Detroit Red Wings Islander head coach Jack Capuano took an oddly timed timeout with 20 seconds left on the game clock. Though Red Wings coach Mike Babcock did not address the late time out call, he was not too happy with Capuano’s decision in the heat of the moment. (Video courtesy of Islanders Point Blank) After the game Kevin Schultz of Islanders Point Blank asked Capuano why he called a timeout so late in the game. ‘ “Our top guys were tired,” Capuano responded. No disrespect to their team or their coach, but the bottom line is Kyle and [Moulson] and Johnny played a real good game tonight. They were tired, they iced the puck and when you’re fatigued injures takes place. That’s the exact reason I called that timeout and I’d do it again if I had the chance. Give those guys a little bit of a breather to get back out in the last 20 seconds of that game.”
