Adam Wainwright didn’t bring his “A” game to the mound or the batter’s box on Monday night. During his at-bat in the sixth inning of Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Cardinals’ starting pitcher accidentally tossed his bat into the cameramen section after fouling off a pitch.  Wainwright would eventually ground out to third for the first out of the inning. St. Louis was hoping that its ace would help them take a 3-0 lead in the series, but Wainwright has allowed two runs on six hits through seven innings. As a result, the Cardinals trail 2-0 heading into the eighth. If the Dodgers hold on to win, the 32-year-old will receive his first loss of this postseason after winning his two starts in the NLDS against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Adam Wainwright: Adrian Gonzalez heckled me at third base

Adam Wainwright cleared up a misunderstanding regarding his issues with Adrian Gonzalez’s “Mickey Mouse” behavior during Game 3 on Monday night, explaining that he wasn’t annoyed with a celebration, but with Gonzalez heckling him. LBS and many other outlets incorrectly believed Wainwright was annoyed with the way Gonzalez celebrated his RBI double to put the […]

Adam Wainwright doesn’t fully understand the concept of a “bat flip”

After Yasiel Puig showcased an epic (but premature) bat flip celebration in Game 3 of the NLCS against him on Monday, Adam Wainwright tried one of his own while at the plate in the top of the sixth inning. It was a little bit too aggressive, however, as the bat was flung all the way to the photographers pit just beside the Dodgers dugout. I know Wainwright isn’t paid to perform...

Adrian Gonzalez Trolls Adam Wainwright With Home Run Celebration

After Adam Wainwright complained that Adrian Gonzalez and his Dodgers teammates were “doing some Mickey Mouse stuff” while celebrating during L.A.’s big Game 3 win, Gonzo trolled Wainwright and the Cardinals after he homered in Game 5. Gonzo crushed a ball to right-center in the third inning of Wednesday’s pivotal Game 5, then he flashed some Mickey Mouse ears as as he headed...

Adam Wainwright Didn’t See Yasiel Puig’s Antics, But Accuses Adrian Gonzalez of ‘Mickey Mouse Stuff’

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright wasn’t thrilled following Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, and it wasn’t just because he took the loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Wainwright didn’t pitch poorly by any stretch of the imagination — he gave up just two runs over seven innings — but the Cardinals couldn’t push any runs of their own across...

Preview: Wainwright faces a listless, injured Dodgers offense

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Dodgers' offense is struggling, and they might have to face St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright without their top hitter in Game 3 of the NL Championship Series. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez had a CT scan on his painful left ribs Sunday, and the results weren't available by midafternoon. He got hit by a pitch from Joe Kelly in the opener but stayed in to play...

For the L.A. Dodgers, it’s Last Call for Drinks

The Dodgers are in a situation where; it’s either beat Adam Wainwright or start the act of winterizing the clubhouse for the year. And they’ve done this to themselves by scoring one run in 22 innings so far in NLCS play. It’s one of those games that looks like the Cardinals are going to win without any trouble. Hanley Ramirez has a broken rib. The Dodgers are starting Hyun...

Adrian Gonzalez Celebrates Home Run With Actual ‘Mickey Mouse Stuff’ (GIF)

Adam Wainwright won’t be impressed with Adrian Gonzalez‘s latest antics. During Game 3 of the Cardinals-Dodgers National League Championship Series, the St. Louis pitcher took issue with Gonzalez’s actions after hitting an RBI double. The right-hander said he saw the Dodgers first baseman “doing some Mickey Mouse stuff at second,” but Gonzalez was unapologetic about his...

Yasiel Puig's epic ... yet premature ... bat flip

Puig thought he hit a 4th inning home run off Adam Wainwright but the ball didn’t quite make it over the right-field wall. Puig still managed to turn the long fly ball into a triple.  Brian McCann is not impressed!

Offense sparse for Cardinals and Dodgers in NLCS

In a matchup sparse on offense, the Los Angeles Dodgers managed just enough to pull themselves back into the NL championship series. They snapped a stretch of 22 innings without a run scored in the fourth inning Monday night, and went on to beat Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals 3-0 in Game 3. Runs have come at a trickle through the first three games, with the nine combined...

NLCS Game 4: Dodgers Try To Even the Series

With their backs firmly against the wall in game three of the National league Championship Series the Dodgers responded with a, 3-0, victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright pitched well enough to win but was foiled by a poor defensive effort.  As poor as the Cardinals defense in game three was, their offense was even worse. Of course, a large part of...

The problem with enforcing the unwritten rules: 2013 NLCS edition

A baseball team has a problem with the way another baseball team is celebrating. So what’s new? This time the two parties involved are the Cardinals and the Dodgers, and it just so happens to all be magnified because it’s gone down in the NLCS. So what’s the beef? Well Adam Wainwright took exception to Adrian Gonzalez‘s celebrating, calling it ‘Mickey Mouse’: Adam Wainwright...

Cardinals Pitching Dominates Dodgers Again in NLCS Game Two

[Box Score] [ESPN Los Angeles] Wacha Wacha! Alright, so I didn’t see this game – I was playing the best 18 holes of my life – so it’s hard to analyze it too much. The Dodgers find themselves in an 0-2 hole. I saw that Yasiel Puig struck out four more times. The Dodgers, my playoff horse that I’ve strapped my oxcart to; are now facing a game three in Los Angeles against...
