Oh, Carolina Panthers. We’d say your shade of green is more neon than the color your fans are apparently thinking of. The Panthers do a lot of retweeting of fans on their official Twitter account. For instance, the account has spent a large part of Christmas Day retweeting the holiday messages of fans. However, they may have gone a bit too far in one instance. Here’s where we’re speculating a little bit, but it looks like that on Tuesday around noon the Panthers asked fans to send them pictures of their football-themed presents using the hashtag #PanthersGifts. If such a tweet ever existed it has since been deleted, but it sure looks like this is the case — otherwise it was a well-organized social media fan effort. However, several of the photos are still retweeted on the Panthers’ account. Where the team (or whoever runs the account) may have slipped up is in not noticing that one fan — identifying himself on his Twitter account as Scott Austin Steele from Greenville, NC — was not only sending out a picture of his new Panthers hat, but a bag of marijuana as well. In a previous tweet, Steele says both items are presents from his girlfriend. Though Massachusetts may have passed the Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Initiative on election day this year, North Carolina has no such laws on the books — meaning Steele is probably doing something illegal. For the record, there is in fact a town called Greenville in North Carolina, but we have no idea if Steele (if that’s even his real name) might be joking, or it it’s just an amazing coincidence. In any case, though the Panthers have since un-retweeted Steele, check out his photo below. @panthers Merry Christmas!!! #PanthersGifts twitter.com/Steeele_/statu… — Scott Austin Steele (@Steeele_) December 25, 2012
