Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune mentions that the Chargers would like to extend the contract DE Corey Liuget “sooner than later.” San Diego still has two years to decide what they’re going to do regarding Liuget, but addressing the contracts of young cornerstone players early on tends to payoff in the long-run, assuming of course that their asking price is reasonable. The Chargers do have some cap space to work with and they should have even more in the coming years. Recent reports indicated that they could also be considering an extension for LB Donald Butler as well, so their strategy could be to focus on their young nucleus. Liuget, 23, has started 29 games in his first two seasons and in 2012, registered 51 tackles, seven sacks, and nine batted passes. He ended up being ranked as the No.8 3-4 defensive end according to Pro Football Focus.   The post Chargers DE Corey Liuget Could Be Next In Line For An Extension appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.
