KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Chiefs have released defensive tackle Anthony Toribio and signed former New England Patriots defensive tackle Kyle Love. The Chiefs made the moves Tuesday, two days after a loss to the Denver Broncos. Toribio joined the Chiefs in 2010 and had hung around the past four seasons, despite having to impress three different head coaches. He was pressed into service against the Broncos on Sunday night when Mike DeVito had to leave a 27-17 loss with a leg injury. It's unknown how long DeVito will be out. Love started 25 games over the past three seasons in New England, but was waived in May after he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. He was claimed by the Jaguars and cut in September.

Andy Reid: Chiefs will bounce back

Andy Reid is confident the Kansas City Chiefs will bounce back and learn from their mistakes following a 27-17 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night. “We played a good football team, and they got us today,” Reid said, via the team’s website. “We’ll bounce back. We’ll learn from our mistakes. There are plenty of things we’ll learn from here and get those fixed....

DT Kyle Love gets another chance with Chiefs

After getting his weight under control, defensive tackle Kyle Love turned his attention to getting his diabetes in check. Now, he's ready to focus on playing football again. The Chiefs signed the former Patriots lineman after a workout this week, and he could be pressed into service as early as Sunday against San Diego. Defensive tackle Mike DeVito did not practice Wednesday...

Why Dwayne Bowe's 4 catch, TD outing is actually a bad sign (Touches and Targets Week 11)

Touches and Targets Week 11 WR and TE Dwayne Bowe hasn’t thrived all season in Andy Reid’s system. The TD looks nice, but, with 4 catches on 13 chances, the story isn’t much different this week (Photo: Doug Pensinger/Getty Images) With 13 targets against Denver Dwayne Bowe has now seen 25 in the last two games. However, he and Alex Smith connected on less than 1/3 of those...

Kansas City Chiefs: where have the sacks gone?

Tamba Hali (Photo credit: Jeffrey Beall via Wikimedia Commons) Through the Kansas City Chiefs’ first eight games of the season, their defense was a nightmare for opposing offensive lines and quarterbacks. The Chiefs registered 36 sacks in those eight contests, an average of almost five per game. Over Kansas City’s last two games, however, that number has dropped to zero. The...

Kansas City Chiefs found their replacement for Mike Devito in Kyle Love.

Kyle Love was a very good football player for the New England Patriots before being released due to having diabetes.  Love was signed by the Jaguars and released a few weeks later. He has not been on a roster in quite some time, but he will be ready to go this week. The Chiefs cut […]

Manning stays clean as Chiefs drop their first game of the season

After all the worry that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning's life was in danger going up against the top-ranked Kansas City Chiefs defense, things turned out quite well for the home team, who walked away with a 27-17 win. Although Manning didn't have his usual big numbers, a mere 24 for 40, with 323 yards and one touchdown, a team effort led by a stout offensive...

With QBs getting rid of the ball fast, sacks have dried up for Chiefs

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- You want nuts? We'll give you nuts. This is nuts: Since Oct. 27, the Kansas City Chiefs, the baddest cats south of Leroy Brown, have recorded exactly one more NFL sack than you and your buddies in Section 308. And if that drives you bonkers, geez, imagine how it makes Tamba Hali feel. "Yeah, of course, it definitely bothers me," the Chiefs'...

Chiefs can learn from loss to Broncos

The Kansas City Chiefs came out of it with their record finally sullied yet their pride still fully intact. No reason to be embarrassed by losing to Peyton Manning and the Broncos in Denver on Sunday night, even if they were the last unbeaten team in the NFL. Indeed, the argument could be made that the Chiefs played well enough in a 27-17 loss that they have legitimate hope when...

Chiefs suffer injuries to offensive and defensive line

The Kansas City Chiefs are no longer undefeated, they lost last night to the Denver Broncos 27-17. They may have not just lost the game however, they may have lost some key players on the offensive and defensive line. Rookie right tackle Eric Fisher, guard Jon Asamoah and defensive ends Tyson Jackson and Mike Devito all left the game against the Broncos. Fisher suffered a shoulder...

Slow starts slowing down Chiefs struggling offense

(Eds: Updates.) By DAVE SKRETTA AP Sports Writer It had to be a painful experience for Chiefs coach Andy Reid, someone who prides himself on being an offensive innovator, to relive the first quarter of last Sunday's game in Denver. The first 19 plays included a false start penalty, a fumble in the red zone, another fumble on a snap, a dropped pass, a sack and a three-and-out...

No time to wallow: Chiefs must put Broncos' loss behind them

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The biggest fear for any coach after a deflating loss, of course, is the potential hangover effect. But Chiefs coach Andy Reid firmly believes his troops will log the 27-17 defeat to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night in its proper place, learn from it, and resume their march toward an AFC West crown and beyond. "That is as tough an environment (in Denver...

Chiefs forced to bounce back from first loss

The Kansas City Chiefs only intend to lose to the Denver Broncos once, and that thought goes beyond the rematch between AFC West rivals in two weeks at Arrowhead Stadium. After falling 27-17 on Sunday night for the first time all season, the Chiefs insisted that they are turning their attention to the San Diego Chargers. They aren't going to dwell on missed opportunities, turnovers...

Chiefs' Brandon Flowers lays out Wes Welker. Welker concussed.

The Denver Broncos got the last laugh in a highly anticipated match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night winning 27-17 and handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season; however, it may have come with a cost, as Wes Welker was knocked out of the game late with a concussion. Welker finished the game with 8 catches for 72 yards but took a pounding the entire game...

WCS Week 11 Power Rankings: Retirement home staff popping corks for ’72 Dolphins

Proctologistics The final undefeated team has fallen. The Kansas City Chiefs put up a good effort, but the altitude in Denver took its toll as the defense looked gassed after the first series. Chiefs at Broncos – Week 11 – Record: 9-1

A date: November 17.That was the day in 1998 that I started my “sports celibacy” as I call it. I just don’t pay any attention to any sports stuff, even Chiefs stuff, outside of those three hours on Sunday when the Chiefs are playing. I must say that my radar picks up a lot, from news reports and friends and family telling me things about the Chiefs, but I don’t as an ironclad...
