Chris Wilcox has reportedly been cleared for full-court contact after heart surgery a few months ago ended his 2011-12 season. (
Wilcox’s cardiologist, Dr. Matt Hook, of the Wake Heart and Vascular Associates in Raleigh, N.C., cleared Wilcox for full contact in the last few days. Wilcox has been working out in North Carolina the last few weeks, lifting weights and doing cardio work, and is planning to go to Houston to continue his workouts with player development guru John Lucas.
Wilcox was almost too good last year. If he hadn’t had heart surgery, the Celtics never would have realized what they had in Greg Stiemsma. (On the other hand, Stiemer would be worth significantly less as a free agent if he hadn’t been showcased during the season’s second half — so maybe the C’s would have been better off that way? I know, I’m confusing. Also, Doc Rivers is allergic to rookies, even when they’re 27 years old).Danny Ainge said today that the Celtics will consider re-signing Wilcox, a veteran presence who returned to Boston’s locker room several times just to hang out after his season ended prematurely. He doesn’t do anything particularly well, but he’s athletic, solid, and almost seven feet tall. Also, he’s good at catching alley oops.

Wilcox Cleared To Play

Free-agent forward Chris Wilcox has been cleared for full-court contact, his agent said Monday, as the 29-year-old attempts to resume his career after undergoing aortic surgery last March. Wilcox had been playing well for the Boston Celtics as a reserve when the team’s doctors noticed what the team called a “significant” enlargement of his aorta. As a precaution, Wilcox was...

It’s really a minor housekeeping move, but the Celtics did the expected quite quickly and signed all 3 of their new rookies. Options On The Wing

As Ray Allen’s contract expired following this season, the Shooting Guard position has been something Celtics fans have been keeping their eyes on with a little money to play with in the offseason. Though 2012 is a relatively weak Free Agent class, there are several attractive options available to fill the void of instant offense off the bench who can also compliment starters...

Doc Rivers sounding more pessimistic about Ray Allen return

Two days ago, Doc Rivers seemed quite confident in the Boston Celtics’ chances of keeping Ray Allen. Today, not so much. (Dan Patrick Show via ESPN Boston)“I don’t know,” Rivers said. “We’re working hard. He has a lot of options and that’s the bad news for us. It’ll be interesting. I wish I had a feel on it. Usually I do. But I can tell you in this one I don’t...

Vote: Which Free Agent Guard Aside From Ray Allen Would You Most Like to See the Celtics Sign?

In a span of just a couple of days, the Celtics went a long way in solidifying their roster for next season. On Thursday night, the C's grabbed a trio of players, two of them in the first round, when they selected Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo with the 21st and 22nd picks, respectively. Just two days later, Kevin Garnett said he was indeed coming back, agreeing to a three-year...

In All Seriousness, Could Greg Stiemsma Help Team USA?

By now you have probably heard the news, but in case you live in a green bubble like I sometimes do, Anthony Davis suffered a sprained ankle working out in New Orleans yesterday. The No. 1 pick of the 2012 NBA draft may be forced out of the Olympics because of this. If the ankle is as bad as Adrian Wojnarowski first reported, the former Kentucky star may join LaMarcus Aldridge...

Jason Terry and Celtics agree on 3 year deal

In a wild unofficial start to free agency, former Dallas Maverick Jason Terry has agreed to a 3 year deal with the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN. This comes a surprise to many, as it seemed like the Celtics were going to put their focus on retaining shooting guard Ray Allen. This could still happen, but it looks more unlikely now due to the fact that it would create a logjam...
