The Milwaukee Bucks lost to the LA Clippers last night 111-85. It was never close. Bucks fall to 12-10. Ralphnuts had the work Christmas party last night, so fortunately, breezed quickly threw this one on tape delay this morning. Ugggglllllyyyyy. Positives: Really hard to find any positives out of this one. Hey, Epke Udoh shot 4/5, that’s pretty good. Hopefully, a good reality check for the Bucks, and they come back focused against division foe Indiana. Negatives: Where to begin – I guess we’ll start with shooting. Jennings and Ellis shot a combined 7-27. Team was 36% from the field. They couldn’t really get in the paint because the Clippers “build a wall” according to McGlocklin, but they were getting open looks on the perimeter – just couldn’t hit em. Doran Lamb is something like 3-24 over the last three games. Defense was pretty sketchy last night, and the Bucks allowed the Clips to shoot 53%. Chris Paul lulled the Bucks bigs to sleep all night, and created all sorts of problems. Observations: The value of a pass first point guard really can’t be overstated. Chris Paul is able to freeze the whole defense with his penetration moves. Seems like he rarely shoots threes, and rarely shoots anything beyond 15 feet. It is either a layup, a paint shot, or he drops it off. Would be nice if Jennings or Ellis could adopt that sort of play at least a little more. Monta Ellis is shooting about 21% from three on the season – he might just need to give that shot up (he’s a 32% three point career shooter). The Bucks don’t have a legitimate three point shooting threat at this time. They badly need Dunleavy back. In other News 1) Kyrie Irving broke his jaw in the game against the Bucks the other night. He now wears a phantom of the opera looking black mask. He scored 41 in the mask last night. There were three dudes on the floor for the Cavs with masks on last night. Creepy. 2) Ricky Rubio has returned, and seems to be back to his old form, dropping some crazy dimes. Find the highlight of his between the legs pass to Greg “The Steamer” Stiemsa last night. Really, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pass like it pulled off in a game. 3) The Steamer is a somewhat disturbing nickname. What happens if the Steamer finds himself playing for Cleveland someday? 4) Jon Henson’s nickname is “Inspector Gadget”? At least that’s what Paschke called him last night. That’s the first I’ve heard that, but I like it.
