The Rockies got their fifth and final hit Tuesday with two out in the fourth inning. Their first hit was their biggest, a three-run homer with two out in the third by Tyler Colvin. The home run, Colvin's 10th of the season and second in two games at St. Louis, wiped out the Cardinals' 2-0 lead, built by Matt Holliday's two-run homer in the first, and gave the Rockies a 3-2 win. After that final hit in the fourth, an infield single by Marco Scutaro, 16 of the final 17 Rockies batters were retired. The exception was Chris Nelson, who walked with two out in the eighth. "Unlike a lot of other situations this year, we won a game tonight with one swing of the bat," manager Jim Tracy said, "and our pitching staff made it stand up." Guthrie looks sharp for dismal Rockies

The Rockies finished the first half with a 4-1 loss at St. Louis that left them with a 31-50 record and a chance to make wretched franchise history. The club record for losses in a season is 95 during their inaugural 1993season and again in 2005. The Rockies have lost 20 of their past 27 games, but in this latest defeat, the Rockies got a good effort from right-hander Jeremy Guthrie...

Rotation juggling gives Guthrie another shot to start

Friedrich was hit in the right calf by a line drive off the bat of San Diego's Logan Forsythe in the first inning of his last start Saturday. Rather than...
