The Miami Marlins came back in the ninth inning to tie the game but ultimately lost 5-3 to the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.  Jose Fernandez was out-dueled by Mat Latos but both starters came away with no decisions as the game went ten innings.    The loss was the 30th of the year for Miami as the team dropped to 11-30.  It was also the fifth straight loss for the Marlins. Fernandez tied his longest outing as a Major Leaguer going seven innings and throwing a career high 99 pitches.    The young pitcher struck out five and allowed two runs on five hits to go along with three walks.    Mike Dunn kept the game at a one run deficit in the eighth and Steve Cishek did the same in the ninth to set up the comeback.  However, the wheels came off for Cishek in the tenth as the Marlins’ closer allowed three runs to score to fall to 1-4 on the season. The bottom of the ninth featured two triples for Miami.  One for Adeiny Hechavarria which was his Major League leading fifth.  The other tied the game off the bat of Marcell Ozuna.  It was the first career triple for Ozuna and his sixth run batted in.  The scoring got started right away for Miami in the game as Juan Pierre led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run to right field.  The rare longball for Pierre was his first of the season but it cleared the wall relatively easily. Miami will try to end the losing streak on Friday with Kevin Slowey set to start.
