The Dallas Cowboys had one fullback on their roster. Now they have zero. In a move that saves about $1.2 million on the salary cap, the Dallas Cowboys have cut Lawrence Vickers. This just shows how much fullbacks have come to be devalued in today’s NFL. And really, in a pass-happy league, unless your fullback can play tight end and catch the ball well, it makes sense that fullbacks are a dying breed. But putting a less-experienced fullback or no fullback at all in front of DeMarco Murray probably won’t be conducive to him gaining 2,000 yards this season. This also probably speaks to the fact that they will be playing a significant amount of their formations out of 12 (1 RB, 2 TE, 2 WR) or 11 (1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR) personnel with rookie wide receiver Terrance Williams and rookie tight end Gavin Escobar in the mix this year, as opposed to previous years where they haven’t had the depth at tight end or receiver to pull this off effectively. Whatever the case, the Cowboys cutting Vickers only reaffirms what most of us have figured out by now: NFL teams like to pass the ball. Need NFL Tickets? Loading... Dallas Cowboys Tip Their Offensive Hand By Cutting Lawrence Vickers

Lawrence Vickers is looking for a new job after getting cut by Dallas, but the Cowboys offense may have found an identity in the process. With training camp right around the corner teams likely have a pretty good idea of what sort of offense they plan on running. That's a good thing of course; lets you know what personnel you need and what you don't need--which...

Cowboys release FB Vickers as focus shifts to TE

The Dallas Cowboys have released fullback Lawrence Vickers, not a surprising move considering their recent emphasis on an offense with two tight ends. The move announced Friday came after Vickers had back surgery following the season and worked only on the side during offseason practices. Dallas is unlikely to carry a fullback on the roster after loading up on tight ends behind...

DeMarco Murray, Cowboys 'ready to take the next step’

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray faced a barrage of questions from ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, who continuingly tried to hammer his point that the team shouldn't be referred to anymore as "America's Team" after only one playoff victory in 16 seasons, reports Jim Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “The stats say we haven’t done those things you’ve...

Cowboys Release FB Lawrence Vickers

The Dallas Cowboys announced the release of FB Lawrence Vickers on Friday. Vickers, 30, was the team’s only fullback on their roster, so his release appears to be an indication that they are prepared to move forward with H-Back position rather than the traditional fullback. David Helman of notes that this move should create close to $1.2 million in cap space...

He played in two games as a reserve in 2012, while spending the rest of the season on the practice squad. the 25-year-old...

Goodell, Dallas judge may decide Brent's status

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys may not have to make a decision on the status of Josh Brent, with the NFL commissioner's office and a Dallas County judge lined up to make their decisions first. Brent, charged with intoxication manslaughter after a December car accident that killed practice-squad linebacker Jerry Brown Jr., is scheduled for a September court date on that...

NFL Myth-busting: Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys Are America’s Chokers

Roger Staubach was Captain Comeback. Tony Romo is Captain Choke of America's Chokers. Or is he? Scott Kacsmar's final myth-buster exposes the NFL's real chokers.

Cowboys' 2012 defensive season by the numbers

As we continue to examine 2012 as a primer for what needsto be accomplished heading into training camp of 2013 and beyond, we shouldfollow up ourbreakdown of the offensive numbers with a thorough checkup of thestatistics that the defense was responsible for. Clearly, this is less relevant when you consider the wholesale adjustments tothe defense moving forward. They spent the offseason...

Fullback Lawrence Vickers Cut By Dallas

Fullback Lawrence Vickers was released by the Dallas Cowboys.Fantasy Spin:Vickers was the fullback in front of Arian Foster in 2011 and Peyton Hillis before that. If healthy, he'll likely catch on somewhere and make that team's running back a better fantasy value, but he has no fantasy value himself.

Which QB will step-up this year, the Bears Cutler or Cowboys Romo.

With the end nearing for two of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks of all time, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, the guard in the NFL is set to change.  Though it has been a while since either won a Super Bowl, their greatness is undeniable, with Manning being considered the greatest preparation quarterback of all-time, and Brady being considered one of the best winners.  With Joe...
