According to the figures Calvin Watkins of ESPN cited, the Dallas Cowboys' top 10 player salary-cap hits total $89.6 million, with QB Tony Romo leading the way at $16.8 million. With the 2013 salary cap scheduled to be about $121 million, the team looks to be roughly $20 million over as it stands right now. So the Cowboys are tasked with reduced those cap hits, and it all starts the team giving Romo an extension to free up some money to sign free agents. Or they could stand pat on Romo, and suffer the consequences of not being able to bring in some key free agents. Per Watkins: " Brandon Carr has the second-highest cap hit at $16.3 million, and it's in his contract that his deal will be restructured. DeMarcus Ware ($11.3 million) has the third-highest cap number, and his deal also could be reworked.
