Found July 13, 2013 on Cardinals Farm:
On Friday night I appeared on the Cruddy Show to talk a little Cardinals Farm with the guys. We talked about a couple of players who may not be top prospects but are dominating, Brock Peterson and Zach Petrick. I gave my opinion on the futures of both players. We also looked at Xavier Scruggs, who is tearing up Double-A. Again, I gave my thoughts on his future. I updated the guys on a couple of pitchers who have been rehabbing lately, Jordan Swagerty and Fernando Salas. I also gave the guys three 2013 draftees who are having good starts and could be ones to watch in the future. I ended the segment with a little plea regarding the Cardinals starting rotation for the second half. Take a listen! MLB needs to hold umpires, like Dan Bellino, accountable for their actions

MLB umpires are getting out of hand and the league is doing little about it. Last night's game between the Cubs and Cardinals was yet another example of an umpire trying to make himself bigger than the game. After getting called out on strikes last night, Matt Adams questioned the call on his way back to the dugout.  It was a mild and low-key protest, but apparently, this...

Cardinals' Matt Holliday leaves early with hamstring tightness

The St. Louis Cardinals may soon be listing Matt Holliday along with the ever-increasing list of players to be hit with a hamstring issue this season.  Holliday had to be removed from last night's game when his hamstring tightened up on him.  This does not mean he has a strain, but it is a sign. #Cardinals OF Matt Holliday left game with what's been called "right...

Cruddy show recap: St. Louis Cardinals minor league discussion with John Nagel

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system is as stocked and loaded with talent as any in baseball. The organization is widely noted and applauded for what it has been able to do in building the farm system. The Cardinals are stacked with high profile top prospects. Oscar Taveras, Michael Wacha, Carlos Martinez and Kolten Wong would be top prospects in any organization. But the...

St. Louis Cardinals: Edward Mujica replaces Adam Wainwright in All-Star Game

Since Adam Wainwright started Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Cubs, he is unable to pitch in the All-Star Game on Tuesday. Thus, Edward Mujica has been named to replace his spot on the team. Don’t worry, though, Wainwright will still be making the trip to New York to enjoy the All-Star festivities with his teammates. Season Recap thus far: At the beginning of the...

St. Louis Cardinals: Zach Petrick has been promoted to Double-A Springfield

On Sunday it was announced that right-handed pitcher Zach Petrick would be headed to Class Double-A Springfield from High-A Palm Beach and will start for the S-Cards on Tuesday. It took an injury to Anthony Ferrara to happen, but Petrick receives the overdue promotion. He started the season at Low-A Peoria, in the Chiefs bullpen. In 16 games out of the ‘pen for the Peoria Chiefs...

Molina carries Cardinals past Cubs

Put Yadier Molina down for four more hits. Four RBIs, too. Add another clutch hit to Allen Craig's total. The majors' last game before the All-Star break sure had a familiar feel for the St. Louis Cardinals. Molina hit a three-run homer in St. Louis' four-run ninth inning, and the Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 10-6 on Sunday night. ''We never give up,'...

Cardinals farm update: Memphis win ties them for first place

(via CardinalsFarm.com) The Baby Birds finished with an even 3-3 record on Sunday as the GCL Cards were off (as they are every Sunday) and the Palm Beach Cardinals had game 2 of a double-header rained out. Memphis, Springfield, and Peoria were the winners and Palm Beach, State College, and Johnson City on the losing end. The Memphis victory tied them for first place with the Iowa...

Preview: Wainwright seeks first win against Cubs in nearly 3 years

Because he's pitching Sunday night, Adam Wainwright likely won't play in the All-Star game. That start, though, gives the St. Louis Cardinals right-hander the chance to end the first half as the NL's only 13-game winner. While seeking that victory and his first against the Chicago Cubs in nearly three years, Wainwright will also try to help St. Louis regain sole possession...

We will begin with probably the hottest and most intriguing prospects to pop up since the short season teams began play. Remember, we are only looking at position players. Hot Prospects with their stats from the last 10 games Kenny Peoples-Walls - ...

Recap: Beltran has 3 hits, Cards beat Cubs 3-2

CHICAGO -- Carlos Beltran had three hits and drove in a run, while reliever-turned-starter Joe Kelly (1-3) won his first game of the season as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2 Friday at Wrigley Field. Beltran was a homer short of hitting for the cycle, with a run-scoring triple, double and single as the Cardinals bounced back from Thursday night's loss to the...

St. Louis Cardinals reliever Kevin Siegrist having success as if he’s Yasiel Puig

Away from all of the excitement and attention directed toward Los Angeles Dodgers rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, the St. Louis Cardinals have a rookie who has arguably had an even better start to his career. Cardinals left-handed relief pitcher Kevin Siegrist appeared in his 13th career Major League Baseball game Friday against the Chicago Cubs and finally became like every other...

Zach Petrick promoted to Double-A Springfield

On Sunday it was announced that right-handed pitcher Zach Petrick would be headed to Class Double-A Springfield from High-A Palm Beach and will start for the S-Cards on Tuesday.
