Cubs reinstate Big Z, cut Howry; Dodgers eye Lilly

Staff reportBig Z is officially back: The Cubs said Friday they have reinstated pitcher Carlos Zambrano from the restricted list and given reliever Bob Howry his unconditional release.Zambrano, who made four minor-league appearances since being placed on the restricted list June 29 following his infamous dugout blowup four days earlier, was expected to apologize to his teammates before the Cubs' game Friday night at Colorado.Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers remain in talks with the Cubs about a deal for Ted Lilly, according to baseball sources. The two teams also have also discussed infielder Ryan Theriot, according to one source.
