We’ve seen the bros before belts philosophy countless times in mixed martial arts, including at American Kickboxing Academy, and that’s why UFC President Dana White believes Daniel Cormier (Pictured) will ultimately drop to the light heavyweight division to avoid a scrap against AKA teammate and UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez.  Although Cormier will make his big league debut in the 265-pound class, White thinks AKA has already formulated the wrestler-turned-slugger’s career path in the UFC. It appears a strict diet will soon be in the cards for Cormier. “I want [Cormier] wherever he wants to be,” White expressed over the weekend. “I just think that’s where he’s going to end up. The relationship with Cain, he’s Cain’s wrestling coach. I think that’s what they’re going to have to do. They’re going to have him go to 205 [pounds]. “Or who knows? Maybe they will fight. Maybe they’ll say, ‘We’re pros, here. We can fight.’ I don’t think so, but I’m just saying maybe.” Cormier owns an unblemished 11-0 professional record, with all of his scraps taking place at heavyweight. Some believe he has the arsenal to dethrone reigning UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones, including Cormier when he professed just last month he would “kick Jones’ ass.” The 33-year-old has stated in the past that shedding the pounds required to compete at 205 would be difficult given the kidney problems that prevented him from competing in the 2008 Olympics. However, it appears Cormier is unfazed with those issues given the way White is talking. “I think he’s awesome,” White said of Cormier. “But at 205, I think he’d be a beast.” Cormier faces Frank Mir April 20th at UFC on FOX 7.

Nick Diaz Back to Old No-Show Tricks, and is Costing UFC Lots of Money

Less than one month ago, Nick Diaz (Pictured) arrived in Canada to host a dreaded “beauty pageant” to promote his UFC 158 blockbuster bout against welterweight king Georges St-Pierre. Diaz was on his best behavior before, during and after the press conference, which led many to believe the 29-year-old had finally turned a new leaf. Well, as the old adage goes, “Old habits die...

UFC on Fuel TV Judging

A big issue in MMA today is the judging.  UFC on Fuel TV 7 was not free of this problem.  There were a couple of questionable scores but none more evident than the split decision win for Matt Riddle.  Riddle clearly dominated the fight with superior wrestling and control and the judge who scored it for Mills should never be allowed to be involved in an MMA event again.  At least...
