Found June 15, 2013 on Ride The Pine:

You remember as kids when you played the game “2 for flinching?”  It’s the game when you pretend to punch one of your buddies and if they flinch, you get two free punches. I’m guessing that Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand was rarely on the receiving end of those punches, after seeing him not react to Dave Bolland of the Chicago Blackhawks throw a fake punch during the 2nd period of Game 2 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals. How lame is Bolland?  This is hockey.  Faking to punch someone is almost as lame as flopping. The post Dave Bolland Couldn’t Make Brad Marchand appeared first on Ride The Pine.

Dave Bolland Tries to Make Brad Marchand Flinch Before Heading to Penalty Box (GIF)

Chicago’s Dave Bolland tried the old “I made you flinch” trick on Brad Marchand during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night, but to no avail. Bolland, who was being sent to the penalty box for tripping during the second period, got right in Marchand’s face before quickly retreating to the box. Marchand didn’t seem too amused by Bolland’s antics, though, and...

Bruins Earn Split In Game 2 With OT Win

For as much criticism as Coach Claude Julien gets for babying his top line and not changing them at all, he doesn't get nearly enough credit for the more minor changes.  Those minor changes won the game for Boston last night. After total domination by Chicago in the first period, outshooting the Bruins 19-4, Julien shuffled the bottom lines around to try and get something going...

Torey Krug’s shine has worn off, but should he be benched?

Going into Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, the Bruins coaching staff will be faced with a decision that they probably never envisioned having to make – to bench rookie defenseman Torey Krug, or not to bench rookie defenseman Torey Krug? The 22-year old Krug burst onto the scene for the Bruins during their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Rangers, during which Krug...

Blackhawks fever infects fans who're fuzzy on game

Chicago Blackhawks sweaters are commonplace around the city these days - though not all wearers realize that's what hockey players and die-hard fans call those ''jerseys.'' As the Blackhawks have a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Stanley Cup finals with the Boston Bruins, Chicago is awash in red and black hats, T-shirts and jerseys - er, sweaters. But because hockey...

Jaromir Jagr Screams to Heavens After Hitting Crossbar With Shot in Overtime (GIF)

Overtime hockey is a stressful affair, where every mistake and opportunity is magnified. Jaromir Jagr is certainly feeling that stress in Game 2, after he hit the crossbar just over a minute into overtime against the Chicago Blackhawks. Boston Finds Their Game Just In Time

On two overtime games to start the series, Jagr said, “Old people don...

Boston Bruins: Torey Krug Not Letting Mistake Hurt His Confidence

Photo credit: Steve Babineau/Getty Images By Mitch Cole (@DirtyWaterBuzz) Bruins rookie Torey Krug spent the majority of the regular season playing for the Providence Bruins, Boston’s AHL affiliate, despite a one game appearance with Boston after being called up on an emergency basis the night Boston believed they had dealt Matt Bartkowski in a package for Jarome Iginla. Ty Anderson: Horton doubt puts pressure on bottom-six

Injured on a Boston power-play in triple-overtime, perennial playoff hero Nathan Horton didn’t look like a man ready to play hockey any time soon. Clutching his shoulder, skating off, and not returning in what’d end as a B’s loss on a double-deflection from the Blackhawks’ Andrew Shaw, dropping a marathon Game 1 at the United Center, a return to the ice on Friday...

Blackhawks' Keith welcomes heavy workload

If Chicago's Duncan Keith was winded after playing nearly 50 minutes in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals, well, he had time to catch his breath by Friday. Ty Anderson: Finally: Kelly, third line strike in Chicago

Much has been made about the 2013 Boston Bruins and their weird connections and similarities to the Cup-winning Boston squad from two years ago. From rookies to goaltenders, nights of clinching-contests to weather anomalies, it seems as if everything’s lined up just right to make ‘13 seem like ‘11. But if there was one part of the equation that the Black-and-Gold would’ve...
