PLAYERS: David Gilliland

Statesville, N.C. – David Gilliland takes the No. 38 Taco Bell Ford to Loudon (N.H.) this weekend for the running of the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. In 10 previous starts, Gilliland has a career best finish of 25th at the track.

Although he admits it’s not his favorite track on the circuit, he feels he has more to prove at the flat, one-mile oval.

David Gilliland on New Hampshire: “New Hampshire hasn’t been our best track, but our short to intermediate program has shown improvement lately.  That gives me a lot of drive to go out there and get a top-20 or top-15 finish. It’s a frustrating track because it’s so flat, but I feel like I have something to prove. I don’t think this place owes me anything, but I think it’s time to get a better result here.

“The guys are all working hard.  We’re going to get a break next week and that will be nice. It’s a tough schedule and we’re all working pretty hard right now.  If you can leave New Hampshire with a good day it makes the break even better.  That’s what we want.”

Crew chief Pat Tryson on New Hampshire: “I think David has it in him to have a good race.  We have a pretty good car that we’ve prepared to do our best.  We always want to improve and this weekend is a good chance for us to show progress.  It’s a difficult track to get the right balance and you need to work on the handling a lot.  But, I think we have an opportunity here to showcase the talents of David.”
