Davis, the highest-paid offensive lineman in club history was benched in the first half Sunday after Titans defensive tackle Jason Jones beat him twice for sacks.
The Cowboys scored two touchdowns while Davis' replacement, Montrae Holland, was in the game.
Davis returned for the final play of the third quarter and the rest of the game after a right eye contusion sidelined Holland.
"This guy is a Pro Bowl player," Phillips said when asked why he was sticking with Davis. "He played good when he went back in."
Davis said he's determined to play better by focusing on improving his technique.
"It's the little things that really make a difference," the Texas alum said.
