Last night Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose was asked if he thought about when he was coming back. The Bulls who lost to the Boston Celtics yesterday are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 30-22. Rose opened up to reporters about how his rehab for knee surgery.
Rose told the press that he was not feeling any pressure from the team to set a comeback date. ”If it’s where it’s taking me a long time and I’m still not feeling right, I wouldn’t mind missing this year. I would love to play this year. I would love to. That’s why I approach my rehab and my workout so hard. I’m trying to get back out there on the court as quickly as possible. My leg still isn’t feeling right. I know if I could dunk off stride, I know I’d be out there playing. But I can’t.”
Last year during the playoffs was when Derrick injured his left knee. Since that injury he has not played a game, but he is working out with the team during practice. Speaking of practice, Rose has been working on parts of his game so he can be a multidimensional player. Rose spoke on that last night as well, ”I’m working on my shot, but you’re not going to label me as a shooter. My game is always going to be driving.”
Bulls head coach, Tom Thibodeau is not adding any pressure on Rose to come back. Thibodeau said, ”He’s right on schedule. When he’s ready, we’ll know. We’ll go from there. That’s why we’ve approached it the way we have. The team has to concentrate on their improvement and their next opponent. He has to do his rehab, and then at some point, he’ll rejoin us and we’ll go from there.”
Derrick is proud of the team and how they are performing this season. ”It’s great knowing that they are winning games. It seems like they are fighting for me out there. So I don’t have anything but to respect them, for how hard they’ve been working out there in practice and when they are going out there playing as a team.” Rose told reporters.
Once Derrick is back in the lineup the Bulls will have their number one player back on the team which should produce more wins for the team. It just depends if he comes back this season or waits until next year.
