Adam Eaton's bloop double in the 16th inning drove in two runs, and the Arizona Diamondbacks outlasted the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 on Sunday. Eaton's career-high fourth hit came during his seventh at-bat, with A.J. Pollock and Didi Gregorius on and two outs. Eaton fought off a 1-0 pitch from Kris Johnson and dunked the ball into shallow left-center. A sprinting Andrew McCutchen failed in his attempt at a diving catch. Arizona remained five games behind Cincinnati in the race for the second NL wild-card spot. Pittsburgh's lead in the NL Central dwindled to one game over St. Louis. The Pirates dropped two of three to Arizona, losing their third consecutive series. Wade Miley limited the Pirates to two runs over eight innings and Aaron Hill went 4 for 7 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games for Arizona. The Diamondbacks (64-58) play their next four games in Cincinnati against the Reds, who are 2 1/2 games back of the Pirates in the division race. Arizona's victo...

Miley, D-backs look to stay hot in series finale

While the Diamondbacks have fallen off the pace in the NL West, they are still very much alive in the playoff race. The Pirates, on the other hand, still lead the NL Central but need to snap out of their recent funk in order to stay on top. Slumping Pittsburgh will look to get back on track Sunday in the series finale against visiting Arizona, which is coming off its biggest offensive...

D-Backs headed to Cincinnati for key series

The Arizona Diamondbacks' recently hot offense sputtered most of Sunday before pulling through for an extra-inning victory. Perhaps facing Bronson Arroyo - against whom a couple Arizona hitters have enjoyed success - could help reignite the lineup again as the Diamondbacks begin a pivotal four-game road series versus the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night. Arizona (64-58) has won...

Gibson: 'Cheaters' like Braun rob other players

Kirk Gibson says he would like to have a private conversation with disgraced slugger Ryan Braun. The Arizona Diamondbacks manager said Sunday that ''cheaters'' like Braun rob other players of opportunities for moments such as his pinch-hit home run during the ninth inning of Game 1 of the 1988 World Series for the Dodgers. Braun accepted a 65-game suspension last...

Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson Rips Into Ryan Braun, Wants to Address Him in Person

Teammates, friends and fans all felt betrayed by Ryan Braun’s role in the Biogenesis scandal that saw him accept a 65-game suspension on July 22.
