The Dodgers are looking at about 46 hours before the non-waiver trade deadline clock strikes, so the Dodgers could be ready to strike a deal at any moment. As the Dodgers are battling it out against the Giants in hopes of sharing first place in the NL West when the day is over, Dodgers GM Ned Colletti is still working around the clock to upgrade the roster.

The Dodgers continue to look for a bat, with Josh Willingham, Hunter Pence, Shane Victorino, Justin Morneau, Alfonso Soriano, and Bryan LaHair topping their list. Molly Knight confirms via Twitter that the Dodgers are still in on Pence and Victorino. Jon Heyman is tweeting that Cubs GM Theo Epstein is desperately trying to unload Soriano in a package deal with Ryan Dempster to the Dodgers. So far the Dodgers and Cubs are at an impasse.

The Dodgers are willing to be big spenders, as the owners are trying to build a team “nobody wants to play.” However, the Dodgers are being smart and not showing all their cards at once. The Dodgers are smart to wait it out, making sure they don’t over pay in a sellers market. I am a little surprised to see the Dodgers not discussing Shin-Soo Choo with the Indians. Or maybe they are..

Jayson Stark is tweeting that rival teams believe the Phillies will make two or three sale moves in the next 46 hours. This figures to include Jimmy Rollins, Victorino, and Pence, in that order.

Jon Heyman tweets that the chances of a James Shields trade happening are dwindling. Speculation is also growing that the Dodgers may be discussing a trade for Brandon League, who could be traded by the end of the day. This would make trading Josh Lindblom for the bat they are looking for a heck of a lot easier. No updates on Josh Johnson who walked six Padres in another marginal outing today. His trade value took a serious hit today. I imagine the Dodgers are still interested.
