OXNARD, Calif. - Cowboys fifth-year safety Pat Watkins (knee) hasn't practiced since July 29.

So does his long absence hurt his chances of retaining his job?
Wade Phillips was asked that very question Monday.
Judging by his answer, Watkins doesn't need to worry.
"Watkins' situation is that he's played and he's started here and we can count on him and he's played really well on special teams," Phillips said. "He's been if not our best, close to our best special teamer since he's been here. He's got a lot of pluses going for him."
