Eagles 31, Jaguars 24, Saturday, August 24, 2013
I’m not going to do a full game recap since it took so long for the game to broadcast – and me to have time to watch it – here in DC. For a detailed review, check out Iggles Blitz. For a more brief review, check out Bleeding Green Nation.
Imaginary post-pick dialogue: "Srsly, Mike. WTF?"
Observation One: Tommy Lawlor says not to panic, and I respect Tommy, but the biggest thing I took away from the game was, “Bad Mike is back ALREADY?” Actually, of course, it’s not Bad Mike – it’s Inconsistent Mike Who Occasionally Makes Head-Smackingly Bad Decisions (Dude, why are you trying to throw the ball away WHILE JUMPING?!?!), which is, in some ways, worse. If he was just Bad Mike, the Chipster could just be all, “Whoops! First time head coaching in the pros here. I *meant* to say Nick Foles is the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting quarterback for the 2013 season. My bad.” I’m not panicking, Tommy. Really. Deep breaths.

Chip Kelly and the new-look Philadelphia Eagles may not be considered to be in the playoff conversation heading into the start of the highly-anticipated 2013 NFL regular season, but with unrest in the NFC East and four different division champions over the last four seasons, anything can happen. At least one thing’s certain about this team though—it will be fascinating to...

To borrow a line from Mark Twain reports of Brent Celek's football death have been greatly exaggerated.
A subpar season and the offseason arrival of two heralded tight ends - free agent James Casey and second-round pick Zach Ertz - had a lot of people in these parts ready to put the 6-year veteran out to pasture.
But when the Eagles open the season in less than 2 weeks against...
Philadelphia Eagles tight end James Casey exited last night’s
preseason finale against the New York Jets after suffering a hamstring injury,
according to Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Casey sustained the injury during the first quarter of the
game, after which he didn’t return. It concluded a disappointing preseason for
Casey, who has battled injuries throughout...
While it would make sense to mock an NFL team for doing this, it is Philadelphia, so maybe this is just good form.
The security guards for the Philadelphia Eagles took the field this week to practice tackling fans and other intruders who may run amuck during games, according to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com. While the living proof is just a far-off video of some people hustling around...
Last Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded outside linebacker Adrian Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for running back Felix Jones. Now, just one week later, Robinson has been released by the Eagles. Robinson is out of practice squad eligibility so he very well might have a hard time latching on with another team if [...]

The Philadelphia Eagles security guards practice taking down streakers. I know this happens from time to time but actually taking time out of your day to practice it? Thats a bit far.
I do have a solution for this problem though: just one time, release an angry dog after the person that streaks. That will make people think twice about it right?
So much for Dennis Dixon having a leg up because he knows Chip Kelly's offense.
Dixon was one of 12 players cut by the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday as they moved closer to the 53-player roster limit. He had a standout career at Oregon when Kelly was the Ducks' offensive coordinator there, and signed with the Eagles in February, not long after Kelly took the job. But Dixon...
Fly, Philadelphia Eagles, Fly After a disappointing 4-12 campaign, longtime head coach Andy Reid was shown the door. In walked Chip Kelly, lately of Oregon, with his up-tempo offense. In concert with offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, who comes to Philadelphia from the Cleveland Browns, Kelly looks to resurrect an offense that scored only 17.5 points per game […]The post Know...
With the regular season only a week away, the Eagles find themselves in their final preseason game of 2013 as they travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets. At this point, it may sound cliche to say this as I have said this in each preseason game I have previewed, but this is yet ANOTHER important game for the Eagles. However, each game has been important for different...
By 6 PM Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles will have reached their league mandated 53 man roster.
This is not to say that the roster will be finalized. The Eagles are a team the boasts depth along the offensive and defensive lines, but lacks depth in the secondary. Therefore, expect the Birds to continue to make roster moves as the players being released from other teams look for...
