PLAYERS: Matt Clement
TEAMS: Chicago Cubs
Hi.Just a little Edwin Jackson interruption here. This sketchbook watercolor is from 2003.From the day the Cubs lost to the Sox 6-7 at Wrigley.Matt Clement was on the mound for 3.1 innings and gave up 11 hits and 7 freaking runs. The other guy was 24 year old Mark Buerhle who would go 6.1 innings and continue tossing 230.1 innings that year.Did you know he's never not thrown for less than 200 innings for 12 years straight? He won that day and ruined mine.I listened to it on the radio, doing stuff in the back yard, when my daughter came out with a poem. That part really happened.Of course I didn't really say, "So what."I just think that way for laughs. In a couple weeks it'll be the 10th year I've been doing these drawings. But I'm still all in on The Plan there, Theo. You grow these kids and I'll get more paper.Okay, back to Edwin Jackson...

The 29-year old swingman ran up career highs in innings (125.1) and games started(16) last year for the Blue Jays. Two Pitcher Redemption

I think George Carlin said it best: “I’ve never ****** a 10, but one night I ****** 5 twos” Which, you know, might be the perfect way to describe the Cubs 2013 rotation. The Cubs have handed out contracts to Edwin Jackson (4yrs, 52MM) and Carlos Villanueva (2yrs, 10MM), rounding out a rotation of not great but not quite awful starters. MLB Depth Charts projects the starting...
