The Michigan State Spartans are about where one might expect them to be in Joe Lunardi’s latest ESPN bracketology. And the news may not be as bad for Michigan as a frustrating 6-4 start might indicate.
Lunardi places both Michigan State and Michigan in the East Regional, which concludes at Madison Square Garden. The Wolverines also open in New York — Buffalo — for this ESPN hypothetical, in the 8-9 game against Dayton. The winner would take on either No. 1 seed Syracuse (a team Michigan knocked off in the Final Four last season) or the winner of a Southern-Stony Brook opening-round game.
The Spartans’ road is friendlier, opening in Milwaukee against No. 15 Bryant. The awaiting 7-10 matchup pits Pittsburgh and LSU.
