MINNEAPOLIS -- Nick Lehr's first career start in goal couldn't have begun much worse than it did Thursday. The end result for the Gophers freshman netminder, though, was a positive one.
Lehr allowed three goals on the first four shots he faced in his first start of the year as he filled in for the injured Adam Wilcox. By the midway point of the first period Thursday at Mariucci Arena...
You’d like to say the Spartans were stunned tonight losing to Minnesota 96-90 in OT from the Breslin Center however the way this season has gone anything is possible. Including Carlos Morris getting fouled by Michigan State’s Gavin Schilling while making a three-point shot to tie the game 78. Morris actually had a chance to win the game in regulation but missed the ensuing...
Michigan State hosted Minnesota on Thursday night in a huge late-season conference game for the Spartans, one they could not afford to drop two weeks before Selection Sunday. Expected to be a relatively low-scoring affair, and potentially one-sided, it turned into a gem. That gem included Tom Izzo’s sophomore forward Gavin Schilling committing one of

The Big Ten has come under a lot of heat for its proposed “year of readiness,” which would take away eligibility for freshmen in college football and men’s basketball. While the conference insists that it is just an idea, it does seem to be gaining some traction within the conference. Not everyone is on board, however.
Mark Hollis says he’d vote “no” today on year...
Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes ran an official 4.31 40-yard dash which was good for the fastest of anyone in the 2015 NFL Combine. To put it in perspective, the fastest officially electronically-recorded 40-yard dash at the Combine is Chris Johnson’s 4.24 in 2008. So 4.31 is flying.
Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio wasn’t all that impressed. Or was he?
You tell me.
In this week’s isportsweb Freep Guest Column, I take a look at how the veteran players on the team have stepped up and made a huge impact down the stretch for the Spartans. 2015 NFL Draft Player Profiles: Michigan State RB Jeremy Langford...
There's literally nothing happening in college football. He ran the fastest 40-yard dash among running backs at the NFL Combine. Good enough for me.
Michigan State handed Illinois just their second home loss of the season with a 60-53 win.
However the Spartans had to avoid a late game meltdown while trying to do something they really haven’t done all season, make their late free throws. This was in thanks to Travis Trice who despite an extremely slow start (0 of 6 shooting, first nine minutes of the game) finished 4 of 7...
Michigan grad Rich Eisen had some fun with one Michigan State fan while doing the NFL Combine for NFL Network. While the Spartans fan didn’t appreciate Eisen’s Wolverine homerism, he had one grammatical error in his tweet which was pointed out by Eisen. It's "a" UM slappie. Not "an", Sparty. RT @CopeMoney: @richeisen is such an UM slappie. […]

Michigan State’s Ryan Keller would score two goals in the first period and Thomas Ebbing would add one more in the third as the Michigan State Spartans dominated the Wisconsin Badgers, winning Saturday’s matchup three to zero.

The Badgers scored twice in the second period and that would be enough to hang on to a two to one win against Big Ten rival, Michigan State.
The win marked the first win on a Friday for this Badger team and their second in a row.
The first twenty minutes could not separate the two teams as they skated to a scoreless tie after one period of play.
The Badgers were awarded a power play...

Tom Izzo was on the podium after coaching Michigan State to an 80-67 victory over Michigan in Ann Arbor on Tuesday evening. The win was the Spartans’ first at Michigan since 2010. Izzo praised Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman’s play in the second half and noted that Michigan State simply made shots in the first half and Michigan didn’t.

Michigan State led Michigan 38-23 at halftime Tuesday night after hitting 59% from the floor and 39% from three-point range. Walking off the floor, Tom Izzo gave Sam Ponder one of the better snippets of analysis you’ll hear. He wanted to talk about making shots and missing shots, obviously, and give rapper Lil Jon a shoutout.
Basketball is a simple game. Make more shots...
Former Michigan State Spartan/current Golden State Warrior Draymond Green and former Michigan Wolverine/current Sacramento King Nik Stauskas made a wager on Tueaday’s Michigan State-Michigan hoops game after a lengthy game of Twitter trash talk.
There’s been a pretty entertaining back and forth going on today between ex-Michigan standout Nik Stauskas and former Michigan State star Draymond Green in regards to tomorrow’s rivalry game between their alma maters.
Another layer has been added to the unfolding drama, as the ante has now been upped.

Black History Month always features stories about the integration of college football in the 1960s. Usually, the accounts focus on the first African-American players who broke the barriers to play at powerhouse schools in the South.
However, there’s a significant and often overlooked part of this saga that took place at Michigan State. A new book by Tom Shanahan, “Raye of Light...
Michigan State lost to Illinois Saturday night, but at least one Spartans fan may have been too distracted to notice. The below video, which has now gone viral, shows a MSU supporter somewhat infatuated with the female standing in front of him in the stands. He seemingly can’t believe his eyes when he looks at her backside.
Discreet, he is not. The below video seems appropriate.
One Michigan State student was mesmerized by a young lady in front of him during the Spartans game against Illinois on Saturday. He repeatedly checks out the attractive girl’s backside as if he simple cannot believe what he’s seeing. The incident occurs late in the second half therefore we can only assume he spent the
