Only playing in his second game last night as a member of the New York Knicks, Tracy McGrady injured is surgically repaired left knee near the end of the Knicks ugly 83-67 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Knicks fans booed their team mercilessly at the end of the game, letting out another season of frustration. This was just two days after the Garden witnessed an OT thriller against the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder, a game that gave Knicks fans hope of excitement even though they dropped the contest. T-Mac scored 26 in that game, and even though he may only be a rental and a salary dump, the fans wanted something to cheer for. After all, the Knicks have been terrible for pretty much the last decade. The New York Knicks are behind the Yankees in terms of importance to the sports landscape in the city, depending on who you talk to. They haven’t won a title now in 37 years. The fans crave a winner, and unless LeBron James and Dwyane Wade both come to the rescue, they will see a title on the ice again in MSG long before they ever see the Larry O’Brien Trophy being raised. But Knicks fans are not alone, every big city has a team that continuously disappoints. Anyone can point out tortured cities, but what about tortured teams?
