PLAYERS: Vernon Wells
TEAMS: New York Yankees
Vernon Wells jacked a two-run home run to deep left field during the top of the first to give the Yankees an early 2-0 lead, but that wasn’t even the most impressive part of the play. A single fan was sitting out in left and smoothly snagged the home run ball in his hat. He casually stood there accepting praise for the grab and brushed a little dirt off of his shoulders in the process. [Cut 4] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

18-month-old recites Yankees greats

I am very proud of my 2-year-old little girl, as she just started to say “Go Yankees” when requested. But this young little lady put my child to shame with her knowledge of New York Yankees greats when her father gives her the numbers: Yeah, so, she got tripped up a couple of times and needed a little reminding, but still incredibly impressive. The average words that an 18-month...

Girardi's Quirky Lineup Moves Deliver A Win

Wednesday night it paid off to have a former National League Manager of the Year at the helm of the New York Yankees. Girardi, who won the award in 2006 with the Florida Marlins, had to show off some of that National League ingenuity in game two of the interleague matchup with the Colorado Rockies. Before the game even started, Girardi raised some eyebrows with his decision to bat...

Yankees Game 33: Rain can’t dampen Cano’s bat

Cano hit his ninth home run of the season en route to a win. New York Yankees – Colorado Rockies   Rain could not dampen the bat of Robinson Cano in today’s 3-1 win over the Colorado Rockies. The Yankees sent CC Sabathia to the mound for this rubber game and looked strong in a rain-shortened appearance. The lone run that Sabathia allowed came in the first inning. Right fielder...

Video: Baby girl recites names and numbers of former and current Yankees players

The New York Yankees have a long and storied history filled with a countless number of great players. It would be impossible for anyone, even the most diehard of Yankees fans, to recite them all on cue.Well, not unless you are this 18-month-old girl, who masterfully recites both names and numbers of some of the greatest Yankees in history. She has a little help from her parents,...

Cano’s 1,500th Hit Earns Him a Prank Courtesy Of His Coaches

The Yankees’ coaches had a good time messing with Robinson Cano after racking up his 1,500th hit on Thursday night. We aren’t sure what they wrote on the ‘fake’ ball but they sure had a good time yucking it up after Cano took a close look at the ball which they had written on. Classic old men joke. Mariano Rivera won't shy away from shagging fly balls on the outfield grass in Kansas City. The New York Yankees closer plans to return to the very scene of where he tore the ACL in his right knee a year ago when the team plays in Kansas City this weekend. He vows to even chase down fly balls again, just as he always does because he enjoys the camaraderie with teammates during...

Curtis Granderson to Return Soon, Shakeup Yankees’ Roster

Curtis Granderson delivered a base hit in his first rehab game on Friday and is now able to play a full nine innings. Cat Scrap Ends With A Drop Kick At New York Yankees Game

There is nothing better than baseball, beer and brawls only this one occurred in the stands at a New York Yankees game. An argument amongst female fans turns ugly as the aggressor gets drop kicked sending her flying backwards over the seats. Just a regular hair pulling, beer throwing day in the Bronx. The post Cat Scrap Ends With A Drop Kick At New York Yankees Game appeared...

Joe Girardi Thinking Outside The Box Has Yankees Winning

On Wednesday night, Joe Girardi batted David Phelps eighth in the lineup ahead of rookie Austin Romine. The part I have never seen the Yankees do in any World Series game or interleague matchup was the pitcher batting ahead of the catcher. Of course, it’s not unprecedented, and that drew the ire of some critics. Tony LaRussa made a living on batting the pitcher eighth and many...
