Beyond The Buzzer:
After winning a bet that he could score more points with J.R. Smith than his opponent Heat’s entire team on the video game NBA 2K13, a fan sent Smith, who signed a $17 million extension with the Knicks in the offseason, a letter which included $60 cash, half the winning’s.
Smith shared part of the letter and the cash on his Instagram account.
“Here’s $60. I know money ain’t a thing to you, but my friend bet me $120 I couldn’t put up more points with you than his Heat on 2K13. Figure I split the pot since I made you look good! Haha jk.”

The calendar says November.
But it certainly looks like last May for the Knicks J.R. Smith.
Smith, in his fourth game back from an NBA-imposed five game suspension after a rehab for offseason knee surgery, shot Saturday as if the Hawks were the smothering Pacers of last season’s playoffs.
When Smith finally exited with 3:41 left in the Hawks 110-90 wipeout victory, he wore a...
J.R. Smith has committed his fair share of social media dont’s throughout his career, but now he can finally chalk up a win in that area thanks to one loyal and generous fan.
The shooting guard has had a rough go of it the past few weeks, most recently getting fined for threatening Milwaukee’s Brandon Jennings on Twitter, but he received a little something in the mail that may...
JR Smith isn’t hurting for cash but that didn’t stop a Knicks fan from sending him $60 for “helping” him win a NBA 2K13 bet. Check out the photo from JRs Instagram account.
JR could probably find a good use for the cash though. Perhaps he will send it to his brother who just got sent down to the D-League.
The New York Knicks have been a staple of many stories so far this NBA season. But this story is actually different from the norm in Knick land. No, James Dolan didn’t say anything crazy, nor did Carmelo Anthony tell us again that we shouldn’t worry about his free agency status. Just a regular fan that felt he owed J.R. Smith $60 for winning a bet against a friend.
The New York Knicks have sent Chris Smith, whose place on the team has been a source of controversy, to the NBA Development League.
Smith was sent Monday to the Erie BayHawks, the Knicks' affiliate. He hasn't appeared in an NBA game this season.
Smith is the younger brother of Knicks guard J.R. Smith, which coach Mike Woodson said would be considered in October before making...
The NBA held internal discussions about the Knicks’ decision to keep J.R. Smith’s brother, Chris Smith, on their 15-man roster and ultimately decided it was not in violation of circumventing the salary cap, The Post has learned.
On Monday, the Knicks sent Smith to their D-League affiliate in Erie, Pa. as planned, but he still is part of the 15-man roster. It has caused consternation...
Mike Woodson was "not happy'' with J.R. Smith for his tweets directed at Pistons guard Brandon Jennings, and he said that if Smith keeps putting himself in these positions, "eventually no team is going to want to deal with you.''
The NBA was unhappy with Smith, too, fining him $25,000 on Friday "for directing hostile and inappropriate language to another...

J.R. was fined 25k by the NBA last week for his twitter beef with the Pistons Brandon Jennings. I guess when you’re only shooting 22% on the season, you’re subject to getting sent back to the bench. Things aren’t great for the Knicks right now. After losing Tyson Chandler, the team has struggled to stop anybody and has suffered blowout loses to the Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs. Apparently, J.R. Smith might […]
The Detroit Pistons were coming off a disappointing 1-3 road trip and came home to face an opponent who has owned them in the past, the New York Knicks. Spicing up this matchup was the twitter feud between Brandon Jennings and the Knicks’ J.R. Smith. Jennings called out Smith’s younger brother, Chris Smith, for being on an NBA team where he felt like he shouldn’t.
In the first...
After going at it on Twitter last week, New York's J.R. Smith and Detroit's Brandon Jennings are ready to battle on the court.
Both players will try to get their struggling teams on track Tuesday night as the visiting Knicks go for an eighth consecutive win over the Pistons.
While Smith denied any bad intent, he was fined $25,000 after using "hostile and inappropriate...
