It's been Kelly Johnson, not Evan Longoria, who has surprised fantasy owners this season. (Credit) Dingers: Kelly Johnson (2B TB) 63% owned in Yahoo! – Johnson has raised his career from the dead in Tampa Bay. He has 10 homers, 32 RBI and batting .296. Second base has been a weak position in fantasy this year and he needs to be owned in all leagues. He’s been one of the best waiver-wire gems this year. He plays almost every day and has legitimate power. Francisco Rodriguez (RP MIL) 27% owned in Yahoo! – All of a sudden “K-Rod” has value again. He is the favorite for saves in Milwaukee with Jim Henderson on the DL. John Axford has also been good lately and might get a chance at saves, but Ron Roenicke won’t go down that road again right now. Rodriguez has been excellent so far this year and wants to get to 300 career saves. He’s worth a shot if you need saves. Ricky Nolasco (SP MIA) 13% owned in Yahoo! – Nolasco has been underrated in fantasy this season. He has 56 strikeouts and only 14 walks. He plays a for bad team, so wins might be tough to get, but he will still be a reliable fantasy starter if he continues throwing quality starts and picking up Ks. He faces the Rays at home this week and is worth a start. Go grab him if you need pitching. Stingers: Yovani Gallardo (SP MIL) 90% owned in Yahoo! – Gallardo is off to a rough start this season. He has a 4.79 ERA and is supposed to be the “ace” of Milwaukee. He has been anything but an ace. He has 23 walks in 62 innings. He’s been a bit unlucky, but you should keep him benched right now. He faces the Phillies next and even though their offense hasn’t been great this year, let him prove himself again before trusting him. Tim Lincecum (SP SF) 89% owned in Yahoo! – “The Freak” has pitched much like Gallardo this year. He has looked dominant at times, showing flashes of his former greatness, but he's also been absolutely terrible as well. He has a 4.75 ERA and 27 walks in 60 innings. Will he ever return to his Cy Young form? Even though he faces Oakland next, can he be trusted right now? If he struggles, then he needs to ride the bench for a while. He has not looked right and might need some rest if he can’t get things going soon. Brett Lawrie (3B TOR) 80% owned in Yahoo! – Lawrie has not lived up to the hype since becoming a regular in the majors. He is hitting a pathetic .209 and is now dealing with an ankle sprain. Let him sit on the bench because he is struggling mightily right now and things aren’t going to get better any time soon. He’s been one of the biggest disappointments of the year.
