Thursday night at Soldier Field, the Bears will be taking the field against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Although most starters on both sides of the ball will be seeing limited playing time, it gives the backups an opportunity to move up the depth chart and offers rookies and others the opportunity to stick around for another week of evaluations. Here is my list of five Bears players to watch in Thursday night’s game:   Shea McClellin All eyes will be on the Bears first round pick Shea McClellin on Thursday night.  McClellin is currently listed on the depth chart as second string at both left and right defensive end along with veterans Corey Wootton and Chauncey Davis.  McClellin’s struggles have been widely documented during training camp, but many believe he is starting to take steps in the right direction.  McClellin will likely see a lot of playing time on Thursday and the Bears will be looking to see what sort of pressure he can get from the edge as well as what he ca...

Manning makes his Denver debut at Chicago

Peyton Manning is about to face his first pass rush in 579 days. The four-time MVP makes his Denver Broncos debut in the preseason opener at Chicago on Thursday. If he has an extra pep in his step or anticipates a larger than usual adrenaline rush against the Bears, he's not showing it. He insists it's simply the next steppingstone in his comeback in Denver after missing...

Manning uneven in first appearance with Broncos

Peyton Manning's first appearance with the Denver Broncos was a brief one. Manning played one possession in the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears on Thursday and got intercepted near the end zone. In his first appearance since the Pro Bowl following the 2010 season while with Indianapolis, Manning completed 4 of 7 passes for 44 yards. On the game's first play...

Peyton Manning's Debut Delayed As Players Clear The Field Because Of Lightning

Mike Klis of the Denver Post is at tonight's preseason opener between the Broncos and Bears. Klis reports that after a huge bolt of lightning, the players on both sides just left the field. Their warmups were supposed to last another 10 minutes. Just in time, too, because a couple more lightning flashes just dinged the gray skies here. Don’t be surprised if there is a delay...

NFL Preseason Week 1 Fantasy Football Preview

How Will Peyton Manning do tonight in his Broncos’ debut? Ah yes, the preseason is officially here. I know there was the Hall of Fame game just a few days ago but for some reason that game has always had a bit of a different feel to it but tonight I can feel the excitement in the air as we look forward to seeing the likes of Peyton Manning taking the field for the first...

Denver Broncos Preseason Scrimmage Draws Record Crowd

Tebow mania cannot hold a candle to Manning mania. The evidence? Saturday afternoon, 41,304 fans packed the lower levels of Sports Authority Field at Mile High to watch the Broncos' annual preseason scrimmage. The attendance was more than double the amount who had turned out in 2010, Tim Tebow’s first year in Denver. "I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like...

Broncos QB Peyton Manning 'Tentative' In Preseason Debut

Considering he missed all of last season with nerve damage in his neck that required several surgeries, Broncos QB Peyton Manning didn’t look bad in his first game back. The problem was he didn’t exactly look like his old self, either. With very little pressure from the Bears’ defense, Manning went 4-for-7 for 44 yards on the opening drive that ended when his throw went slightly...

(BroncoTalk.net photo) The Denver Broncos‘ first depth chart of the 2012 season is expected today, The Denver Post reports. You can hit refresh on your browser window right here to see...

John Elway Says Peyton Manning Needs Two More Rings to Be the Best Ever

I think John Elway is subliminally saying that Manning isn’t better than him until he gets two more rings. I see you John you aren’t fooling me. Trying to motivate the older Manning. In Elway’s opinion, if Manning were to close out his career by winning two Super Bowls as the Broncos’ quarterback — the same way Elway closed out his own Hall of Fame career — that would...

Elway: Peyton has to win 2 more Super Bowls to be the best ever

I have always been a big John Elway fan. I felt, even before he won two Super Bowls in his last two seasons in the NFL, that he was one of the greatest ever. I still feel that he’s top five. The rings were just extra on a brilliant career. He didn’t need them. Unfortunately, [...]

Joes 2012 NFL Preseason Preview Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears

Well hey everybody. Are you finished with your hibernation? I only ask because the Chicago Bears are clearly wrapping theirs up as preseason football kicks off tonight. The Bears welcome the new-look Denver Broncos (Peyton Manning, y’all) into Soldier Field for their first exhibition game tonight. Without delving into the finer details (as its preseason and therefore mostly irrelevant...

Hillman may play Thursday; Urlacher ruled out

(Image courtesy of Joe Mahoney/Lubbock Avalanche-Journal) The Denver Broncos and quarterback Peyton Manning will be relieved—or, in Manning’s case, disappointed—to know that Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has been ruled out for the team’s preseason opener Thursday evening in Chicago. Urlacher has missed six consecutive training camp practices. Sidelined with a sore knee...

5 Reasons the Denver Broncos Will Miss the Playoffs in 2012

The Denver Broncos shocked the world by making the playoffs, and even winning a playoff game, last season. This year though, they’ll be lucky to finish at 8-8. A record of 7-9 or 6-10 is highly likely. Here are five reasons why the Broncos will disappoint in 2012.   1. THE SCHEDULE The Broncos have the toughest schedule in the AFC, facing teams that had a combined 2011 win...

Bruce Arians Likes What He Sees from Young Indianapolis Colts Offense

Bruce Arians knows quarterbacks. He was Peyton Manning's first quarterback coach in Indianapolis, groomed Tim Couch in Cleveland before Couch was injured and turned a raw Ben Roethlisberger into a two time Super Bowl winner. Now Arians has a new challenge in grooming another first round quarterback in Andrew Luck. With the Colts made over roster, the task before Arians will...
