This is the second to last in a mini-series detailing what Dallas Mavericks fans should be most concerned about heading into the 2012-2013 NBA season. Before the countdown ends next Monday, here is the second most concern: Can the Mavs’ big men stay healthy, fulfill expectations and provide consistent low-post offense and defense? The Dallas Mavericks have been lacking a low-post offensive threat down low in some time. Besides Tyson Chandler, the Mavs also haven’t had a consistent shot-blocking and intimidating big man on defense. The Mavs have the potential for a good mix of both going into this season, in Chris Kaman, Elton Brand, Brandan Wright, and rookie Bernard James. But there are questions regarding all of them and if they can contribute in a big way to help the Mavs contend. The 3-Pronged Kaman The Mavs Are Counting On

A source close to Chris Kaman tells me, 'He's in every day working hard. He wants to be a good player on a good team and prove critics wrong.' That's part of the three-pronged argument (one emotional, two statistical) that Mavs staffers are making privately regaring Kaman in Dallas - maybe a perfect fit for a rewrite of the cliche, 'He wasn't born a Texan...
