Athletics (53-37) at Pirates (53-35) 7:05 PM–PNC Park, Pittsburgh MLB.com Gameday TV: ROOT The Bucs look to snap this three game losing streak tonight in game two of this week’s series with Oakland. The A’s are 10-0 all-time against the Pirates – the only team that is undefeated against another MLB team. Time for that to change. Tonight’s starters… Dan Straily (5-2, 4.52) vs. Gerrit Cole (4-1, 3.94) Straily’s overall numbers aren’t great but he’s been pitching well lately – and we’ve seen what the Bucs’ offense has done lately. He hasn’t topped 100 pitches since his first start of the season, so maybe the Pirates can get him out of the game quickly if they work some counts. Cole took his first loss last time out, and I think people are starting to see why he’s not a finished product yet. Gerrit is still working on using his breaking pitches to generate strikeouts, but he’s still been plenty good with the fastball. Clint Hurdle brought out the quick hook in his last outing – we’ll see if he trusts the young righty if he gets in trouble tonight. Here’s the #Pirates lineup for tonight’s 7:05pm game. #LetsGoBucs pic.twitter.com/vTEEtytVc8 — Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) July 9, 2013
