Cowboys defensive end George Selvie was fined $7,875 by the NFL for his face mask against Peyton Manning on Sunday,
The news comes courtesy of Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas:
Selvie was flagged in the second quarter after he grabbed Manning’s face mask and twisted, negating an incomplete pass. The Broncos scored two plays later for a 21-17 lead with 5:22 left in the first half.
The fine is not much of a surprise. Selvie completely turned Manning's neck around and given the NFL's mandate around player safety, and especially the quarterback, this was inevitable.
There is no word yet if Selvie plans to contest the fine.
Do you think that the fine of George Selvie for the facemask is justified?

In a certain sense, the Jacksonville Jaguars will present the Denver Broncos with a challenge this weekend. If you don’t bring it every single week in the NFL, you could get beat — no matter who the opponent. The Jaguars are arguably the worst team in the NFL this season, but Denver can’t take anyone […]
According to Jarrett Bell of USA TODAY Sports, the Indianapolis Colts plan on honoring Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning when Denver comes to town ten days from now.
The details of the festivities are still being worked out, but it should be a very fun Sunday Night in Indy.
“We’re going to have a great tribute to him,” said Colts owner Jim Irsay. ”It’s going to be something...
The Colts will pay tribute to Peyton Manning when he returns to Indianapolis next week.
What exactly the team will do hasn't been finalized yet.
Indy has usually celebrated the return of former longtime stars, such as Edgerrin James and Jeff Saturday, with a highlight reel of the players' careers between the third and fourth quarters. USA Today reported Wednesday that the...
The 5-0 Denver Broncos have already been installed as 28 point favorites over the 0-5 Jacksonville Jaguars next week in what will be the largest point spread (and biggest mismatch) in NFL history. The Broncos may score 12 touchdowns before the Jaguars complete a forward pass. It's going to be such a blowout, it'll make Ohio State vs Florida A&M look like an instant...
The Denver Broncos are the biggest favorite ever in an NFL game, a whopping four-touchdown pick Sunday at home against the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sports books in and around Las Vegas make Peyton Manning and the Broncos a 28-point favorite over Jacksonville. That's unheard of in an industry where half-point swings can be huge and most teams are rated within a few points...
Indianapolis won seven of the first nine AFC South titles. Now, the Colts are back on top of the division.
For the first time in the post-Peyton Manning era, Indianapolis (4-1) has taken sole possession of the division lead - one game ahead of Tennessee and two ahead of two-time defending division champ Houston with no intention of giving it up. The Colts are one of four NFL teams...
Denver Broncos Executive vice president of football operations John Elway says the Denver Broncos 51-48 win against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday was a “confidence builder.” The win was the narrowest margin of victory so far this season for the 5-0 Broncos. “If you look at the first four
Answering fan questions on ESPN Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater compared himself to Peyton Manning. Ironically, the question came from a UK fan.
Here are some detailed Fantasy Revelations off a select listing of Sunday games.
Perhaps next week (depending on baseball), we'll have more time to delve into three books of nuggets ... and mini-rants involving second-tier tailbacks who cannot stay healthy.
1. There's nothing new to proclaim about the Broncos and Cowboys ... even if it might have been the greatest outing...
* THESE RANKINGS ARE BASED NOT JUST ON RECORD, BUT OVERALL PERFORMANCE AND STRENGTH OF TEAM.1) Denver Broncos (5-0) – Peyton Manning is playing at an All-World level. Once they get Von Miller back, that defense is going to be greatly improved. Even so, who is going to score that many points and keep up with them?2) New Orleans Saints (5-0) – Drew Brees is an animal, and Rob Ryan’s...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By HOWARD FENDRICH AP Pro Football Writer Bad as the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers were in 1976, going 0-14 on the way to what became a 26-game losing streak, they never were as big of an underdog as the Jacksonville Jaguars are against the Denver Broncos this weekend.
And good as the nearly perfect New England Patriots were in 2007, 16-0 during the regular...
Season To Date: 10 – 5 Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys: The Redskins beat the Cowboys twice last year. Dallas will really want this game and a victory will put them in good shape to win a weak division. The Cowboys lost a wild shootout last week to Denver and Peyton Manning. Tony Romo is playing better than RGIII is and leads the Cowboys to a close high scoring...
