If the Clippers had an award for unsung hero, it would go to Willie Green. He plays when needed. He sits without complaint. This season, he has started 50 games, but he has also been a DNP (did not play) nine times. Willies a pro, coach Vinny Del Negro said after the Clippers 29-point victory over the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night. Hes always prepared. Hes one of the first guys in the gym and one of the last guys to leave. Hes going to stay ready. Staying ready is an essential part of Greens job. He started the teams first 14 games while guard Chauncey Billups rehabilitated a torn left Achilles tendon. He sat the next three after Billups returned, but returned to the starting lineup after Billups went down again, this time with tendinitis in his left foot. In fact, when Billups has gone down, Green has stood up. He started against the Sixers his first start since Feb. 11 to give Billups time to rest a groin injury. Billups indicated he could return Saturday night when the Clippers play the Brooklyn Nets at Staples Center, but it probably will be a game-time decision. In the meantime, Green, a nine-year NBA veteran playing for his fourth team in four seasons, keeps himself prepared to play and to sit. You just have to continue to believe in yourself and continue to get your shots up and get all of your work in, he said. At the end of the day, for me its really just about getting these wins. Im a very spiritual guy, so I believe that all things will come together. Green played 22 minutes against the Sixers and scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting. He added four rebounds. Its tough when youve been out of the lineup for a while, he said. I came here because of the bigger picture. I still believe in this team. Del Negro clearly believes in him. Although Greens playing time has been sporadic, the Clippers coach knows he can be a reliable contributor to a team looking to improve its playoff standing in the final weeks of the regular season. He understands the big picture, and hes just one of those guys you dont have to worry about, Del Negro said. Hes just going to be ready when his number is called. Hes going to give you what he can, and that makes it easier on everybody. The Clippers game against the Nets will be their last home game until April 1. They play four road games in five nights starting next Tuesday, with stops in Dallas, New Orleans, San Antonio and Houston. Del Negro rejected the suggestion that his team is in desperation mode to win games, although the Clippers are in a sprint to the finish with the Memphis Grizzlies, who hold the third spot in the Western Conference by percentage points. The Clippers have one more loss than Memphis and are currently tied with the Denver Nuggets for fourth place. Weve just got to win games, Del Negro said. We dont look at it like that. We have to play well. I thought we did some good things (Wednesday night) and got the result we were looking for. Theyll need more of those. Road games against the Spurs and Rockets wont be easy, and a possible first-round matchup with the Nuggets, who have the best home record in the league (30-3), is a frightening proposition at best. But they already know that. There will be no easy routes during the playoffs, guard Jamal Crawford said. It really doesnt matter if its Denver, Golden State, Houston, Memphis or whoever it is, its not going to be easy. For us, its really not about the standings but about the way were playing down the stretch. Thats more important.

The Los Angeles Clippers connected on their league leading 5,000,000th alley-oop last night, and it was so nice they did it twice. Check out the rather unorthodox Blake Griffin to DeAndre Jordan connection which was locked and loaded last night. [NBA] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Los Angeles Clippers: Don’t Believe The Stats, Blake Griffin is Improving

The Los Angeles Clippers have enjoyed some great success this season, even more than their LA counterpart, the Lakers.  While much credit can be given to the veteran leadership of Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups, the overall improvement of Blake Griffin, must be noted. While Griffin has been known for his highlight dunks and mean stare downs after putting a defender on the poster...

Chris Paul flopped like an epileptic crappie during Tuesday’s game (video)

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul broke out an epic flop for the ages during his team’s game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night in the epically named Sleep Train Arena. I mean CP3′s flop was as bad as what happened to Ishtar (look it up). And with much, much worse acting. It could be argued that Paul’s abysmal display wasn’t technically a flop since he...

Chris Paul with the Flop of the Year (Video)

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul has been known to provide a quality flop in the midst of heated NBA games. Whether you look at it as deceiving or weak, the crafty little point guard has almost got it down to a science with his flops. Strategically doing them when the Clippers might need point or momentum needs to be changed. Last night Lob City was in Sacramento...

Clippers Announcer: Caron Butler “Delivers A Facial” On Spencer Hawes

Ok, this was a decent dunk from Caron Butler on 7-1 Spencer Hawes. But the real highlight on this one is the call from the Clippers broadcaster. Caron Butler “delivers a facial on Spencer Hawes.” “Give him a toothpick to pick out that leather from his teeth.” Good work, Clippers broadcaster guy. Filed under: Basketball

Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan Make it Look Too Easy

Whenever anyone talks about dunking in the immediate future they will not be able to do so without mentioning the Los Angeles Clippers as hands down the best dunking team in the NBA. The team affectionately known as Lob City makes the most high-flying and acrobatic of dunks look easy. Allow me to enter the following clip from Wednesday night's game as evidence!

Chris Paul Probably Regrets This Flop, As He Should

Chris Paul should be ashamed of himself, and judging my my Twitter feed he won’t stop hearing about it for quite some time. This is truly a flop that soccer players would be proud of. Suspension forthcoming? [SB Nation] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

#BeefThursdays: We Can Finally Settle At Least One Jordan-LeBron Feud

While last week’s Beef Thursdays column featured actual beef, in the sense that athletes were trying to rip each other’s heads off en route to a horrific international incident that could have only been prevented by the United Nations or James Bond, this week’s edition is more of an imposed sense of rivalry. Namely, we thought that Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan...

No Foul Call? DeMarcus Cousins Drills Chris Paul

Remember when the NBA came out with stern language about flopping? (P)layers will face the possibility of stiff punishment for trying to trick the referees into a foul that wasn’t warranted. Commissioner David Stern issued an edict that he hopes will make flopping go the way of the four-corner offense and the short shorts. The rule change hasn’t stopped league golden boy Chris...
