Membership has its privileges ... especially when you're ponying up big money for charity. On Tuesday, Memphis Grizzlies owner Robert J. Pera took a friendly shot across the bow at Michael Jordan, inviting the Charlotte Bobcats principal owner to a one-on-one match with the winner presumably netting at least 1 million for his favorite charity. The Hall of Famer Jordan, who claimed six NBA championships with the Bulls (1991-93, 96-98) and 11 league scoring titles during his 15-year career, likely wouldn't take the bait on Pera's invitation. After all, what else does Jordan universally known as the NBA's "Greatest Living Player" really have to prove at age 50? Even if he's still a voracious competitor? But if Jordan chose to lace 'em up for a single event, presumably held before a live or televised audience, perhaps his fellow NBA owners could take a grander perspective, in terms of holding an owner-only tournament ... with the winner getting a chance to play Jordan for the unofficial one-on-one crown? Pera, the founder of Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. and 15 years younger than Jordan, demonstrated his basketball acumen this week (below), informally playing hoops with the Grizzlies.
