During today’s press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin told the media that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. My guess is that Nicks will be healthy enough to participate in OTA’s and mini camp in a couple of months.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode...

New York Giants GM Jerry Reese met with Justin Tuck to talk about the defensive captain's disappointing play for the team.

Tom Coughlin won’t rule out more cuts for the Giants

During his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine today, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin didn’t rule out anymore possible cap-casualties for his team. “I wouldn’t be surprised by anything. Some things we do have to get done, and we have to find a way to do it,” said Coughlin, per Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post. My guess is that the Giants will look to restructure...

Giants will speak with the agent’s of Keith Rivers, Domenik Hixon

According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, the agent’s for linebacker Keith Rivers and wide receiver Domenik Hixon have told him that they plan on speaking with the Giants this week at the combine. Rivers played pretty well for the Giants at times during the 2012 season.  Hixon came in and contributed on offense, but he’s not the guy that can replace Mario Manningham who...

Tom Coughlin says Giants’ starting running back spot is up for grabs

During today’s press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine, New York Giants head coach indicated that David Wilson will not be handed the starting running back job now that Ahmad Bradshaw is no longer around. Coughlin stated that Wilson, Andre Brown and Da’Rell Scott will compete for the starting spot. The Giants are always about competition and never hand anyone a starting...

Giants’ owner John Mara: Will Beatty is an “ascending player”

During today’s press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, New York Giants owner John Mara stated that left tackle Will Beatty is an “ascending player,” but he’s not sure they’ll use the franchise tag on him. I agree with Mara that Beatty is only getting better and the word is that he’s a priority for them to sign this offseason. The Giants typically...

Tom Coughlin doesn’t want to talk retirement: “I don’t even know how a young man would come to that statement”

Tom Coughlin is a NFL lifer; he’s not going anywhere or going to do anything else. When cornerback Terrell Thomas said he thought this would be Coughlin’s last year, it raised some eyebrows. However, realistically it never really seemed valid. When asked, Coughlin shrugged off the talk as he does most things he finds relatively unimportant. “I don’t even know how a young...

Tom Coughlin to coach at least two more years

With nothing better to do in the offseason than to stand around, kicking tires and shooting the breeze, it's no wonder that Tom Coughlin's age has come up as a talking point. Specifically, when will Coughlin decide his time to retire has come? According to Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas, Coughlin has "one more [year] in him." Thomas made the statement on the...

John Mara Hopes Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz Are Both Giants 'For A Long Time'

Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks often speak about working best in synergy, one receiver opening up big-play opportunities for the other. If the Giants can work it out, they’d like it to be that way for a while. But it won’t be easy as Cruz is a restricted free agent this year, and Nicks is due to be an unrestricted free agent after next season. The Giants must determine if they...

Coach Tom Coughlin Shoots Down Giants Retirement Questions

New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas recently said that he thought Tom Coughlin would retire after the 2013 season. The 67 year old coach said he has no plans to retire. "I approach each year the way I've always approached it," Coughlin said Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine. "I mean, the energy's flowing good, I'm excited about it, and looking...

Fresh Rushing Game Just One Reason Giants Are '13 Super Bowl Contenders

Once Dez Bryant’s knuckles were ruled out of bounds on this play October 28th, the New York Giants sat comfortably atop the NFC East at 6-2, 2.5 games ahead of the Eagles and Cowboys, primed for another playoff appearance. Coming off a Super Bowl championship, it was logical to feel confident the experienced Eli Manning could lead his team through a serious championship push for...

Jerry Reese Says Giants DE Justin Tuck Wants To Regain Form

Giants GM Jerry Reese spoke Saturday, presumably as a gesture to the assembled media in town, but offered little of substance on the state of the team. His most interesting comments came on DE Justin Tuck, who is coming off a disappointing season. Tuck had 11.5 sacks and six forced fumbles in 2010, and he slipped to five sacks and one forced fumble (in 12 games) in 2011. But Tuck’s...

Victor Cruz Hangs With CP3

Just working the room Juan… Victor Cruz is such a popular athlete and plays in the biggest stage in sports, New York.  Well, not in 2013, yet.  The Giants and Cruz still need to come to an agreement and last we heard Nicks was their priority.  We shall see. Victor Cruz Enjoyed All-Star Weekend Victor Cruz With Kate Upton

Giants OG Chris Snee Underwent Hip Surgery This Week

Giants guard Chris Snee had surgery on his hip earlier this week, according to sources. Snee battled hip issues for much of the 2012 season, playing through a torn labrum and bone chips in his hip. Still, the 31-year-old guard made his fourth Pro Bowl, and he played in the NFL's all-star game in Hawaii before having surgery earlier this week. A source said Snee's...
