(Photo by: halifaxdrunk/Flickr) Miikka Kiprusoff is having a rough year early on. This season, the 36 year old is under the most scrutiny yet since the Calgary Flames haven't made the playoffs in four years. The loyal fans who wear the red in Alberta are starting to get impatient. For the past few seasons, the Flames have been struggling, including their starting goaltender. Their lack of performance has ignited trade rumors throughout the organization involving their veterans including Kiprusoff. TSN has him featured on their trade deadline list of players on who could go. At 36 years old, Kiprusoff is starting to slow down physically and quite possibly mentally. "Kipper" can thank the Calgary organization for his wear down mentally due to the extreme amount of games he has been given each season. Kiprusoff is known to be a battler and never gives up on a play. If there is a mistake he makes, he will try his hardest to correct it before the puck gets by him. He doesn't play the upper part of the net, however. Also, his movement isn't exactly up to par because his style is a bit outdated. In non-hockey related news involving the Finnish goaltender, his wife gave birth to his second son, Oskar Kiprusoff, which caused him to miss his last game in Dallas. However, he will return in net to start against the Predators. Here is how to beat Miikka Kiprusoff: Blocker side: Kiprusoff doesn't have a solid angle towards his right side. He leaves a gap open near side between his blocker and the post. A good shooter will be able to get a puck by. Not very good mobile: Get Kipper in an uncomfortable position and force him to move. Calgary Flames: Let’s Get the Fire Started

Photo courtesy of Getty Images. By Ryan Holmer (@RyanHolmerNHL) As we approach the trade deadline, the Calgary Flames and Jay Feaster are closer than ever to an actual fire sale. Is clock ticking on Iginla's tenure with Flames?

NASHVILLE It's one of those situations that tugs at the heart strings of sports fans. In Calgary, captain Jarome Iginla is an iconic figure. A native of Calgary's archrival Edmonton, he has earned a place in the city's sports history and imagination like few others, holding the franchise records for games played (1,215), points (1,093) and goals scored (523). But now...

What Happens With Iginla?

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, The goal for any general manager in a position to sell is the same – drum up a market for his available players. If Feaster can interest two or more teams in Iginla – or in Jay Bouwmeester, Miikka Kiprusoff, Cory Sarich, Lee Stempniak or Mike Cammalleri – then he could get some tangible assets in return. No one can say for sure...

Bobby Ryan, Jarome Iginla Remain at Top of Trade Wish List for Bruins Fans As Team Looks in Need of Shake-Up (Video)

A short time ago, the Bruins looked like an unstoppable juggernaut poised to cruise to a Northeast Division crown and a top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Now, fans are getting a little restless. The team’s recent play hasn’t exactly been sterling, but the Bruins have shown some chinks in the armor. With the NHL’s trade deadline looming in the not-so-distant future...

Joey MacDonald’s slick glove save on Brendan Morrow

Dallas Stars forward Brendan Morrow had a wide open net when he got the pass from Erik Cole out front.  Calgary Flames goalie Joey MacDonald did the excellent job of going post-to-post and getting his glove out to make the save.  Lucky for Morrow the Stars went on to win 4-3 and so the sheer robbery by MacDonald didn’t come into play. Based on the way the Flames have played on the road, they'd settle for any margin of victory in the teams' next meeting. Game 31: Calgary @ Nashville – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Photo by Gerry Thomas/NHLI via Getty Images The scene pictured above is one of elation and gratification when the Calgary Flames trounced the Predators a week ago.
