The No. 3 Florida Gators saw the return of their offense on Tuesday night against the Samford Bulldogs, but it wasn’t enough. Florida (38-15) scored seven runs in the game, but couldn’t overcome Samford’s (34-19) hot start and fell to the Bulldogs 12-7.

Three Florida players were tabbed Preseason All-Americans in Phil Steele’s Preseason Awards that were released on Tuesday. Senior kicker Caleb Sturgis was the lone Florida player placed on the First Team list. Defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd was put on the Third Team while junior safety Matt Elam was put on the Fourth Team. Steele also placed ten Florida players on his Preseason All-SEC list.
It’s hard to draw it up any better than how it went on Thursday for No. 3 Florida . The Gators got a three-hit shutout from right-hander Hudson Randall while the offense cranked out six runs on ten hits, including three by Preston Tucker to give him the all-time record for hits at UF. Florida erased the taste of a midweek loss at Samford with a 6-0 win over Auburn to open the series.

You should feel sorry for Leon Orr. Poor Leon, it is not his fault that he has been arrested five times in the last 15 months. If we had known before he came to Florida that there were behavior standards to be upheld, he would have toed the line.
