CLEVELAND -- Mark Reynolds knew there would be stretches like this. So did Terry Francona.Ive done it my whole career, Reynolds said.It doesnt make it easier to go through or watch, though.Early in the season Reynolds -- the Indians third baseman -- was red-hot and told the gathered media that theyd be on his case when he had an 0-for-30 stretch.I wasnt joking, Reynolds said before Saturdays game against Washington.Entering Saturday, Reynolds was 4-for-his-last-37 with one home run and three RBI -- including an 0-for-4 night Friday when he left seven on base. He started the first 40 games hitting. 268 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI.Thing is, neither Reynolds or Francona seem overly concerned. Its the nature of the beast, you know, Reynolds said. If everybody were like Miguel Cabrera wed all be pretty good. Im going to keep working my way through it and try to get out of it as soon as I can.Reynolds said the issue is mental -- and he hit a 426-foot blast in the fourth. You have a couple bad at-bats and it snowballs on you, he said. Ill just try to get on the flip side of that and have a couple good ones and hopefully that will get me right back where I need to be.Since Lonnie Chisenhall was sent down and Reynolds took over third base full-time, hes hit .167 with two home runs and 10 RBI. Francona has asked Reynolds if third base is an issue, and he says no. The manager believes the move to third simply was coincidental with Reynolds just going into a Mark Reynolds stretch, something the team knew was always possible when it signed him.You watch, Francona said. Hell get hot again. I dont know how to put it in a bottle and distribute it or I would, but hell get hot again. And when he gets hot it wont be singles.INJURED INDIANS: Asdrubal Cabrera said his quad muscle pull has improved to the point that he doesnt feel it nearly as bad as he did. Cabrera said there is still no timetable on his return. Asked if the injury affected him when he was hitting, Cabrera said: You watch the game? Closer Chris Perez will throw a rehab assignment in Lake County on Sunday. Perez said hes feeling better, and that he pitched through the injury since he saved a game May 11 in Detroit. At one point, he bent his arm over his head and said when he had the issue with his shoulder he could not do that. The Indians said Perez would not take questions about the marijuana that was delivered to his house, for which he is being charged with a third-degree misdemeanor. Perez only talked about his arm and his rehab.

2013 MLB Draft: Reviewing the Indians approach in the draft

The draft has come and gone, and now it is time for my annual post draft piece. It was a very interesting draft and as always had a lot of trends that I found while following it. In the end I will pat myself on...

You Forget How Close They Came

I know Cleveland has often been the subject of my ridicule – and it’s deserved. But there was a time in my life when I dabbled in Cleveland Indians baseball. Admittedly, as an early teenager it was hard not to get sucked into the 1996-2000 Cleveland Indians. I studied tape of Manny Ramirez’s swing and tried to model my offensive approach after him; hitting to all fields. Plus...
