Matt Kemp was activated from the disabled list after a bout with irritation in the AC joint of his reconstructed left shoulder. Scott Van Slyke headed back to AAA to make room for Mattycakes. Kemp had a great day at the plate in his return, reaching base four times (homer, double, single, walk). Kemp was on third base with two outs in the ninth inning when Carl Crawford hit a bases loaded ground ball to first base. Kemp, likely thinking the inning would end with that ground out, was not running hard toward home. But Crawford easily beat the play to first base, and Adam LaRoche threw home to get Kemp on a force out. Kemp, trying to beat the throw, lunged at the last moment toward home and turned his left ankle in an awkward touch of the plate. The Dodgers have said Kemp will not need x-rays or a DL trip in all likelihood, and while I would expect them to p...

He went 3 for 4 with a home run, but limped off the field after sliding into home...

Kemp says Braun should lose MVP award, but it won't happen

The suspended and disgraced Ryan Braun was, of course, the 2011 National League MVP. In the balloting, he won a tight race over Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp (I join my colleague Matt Snyder in thinking that Kemp should've won in the first place), and in the wake of Braun's temporary banishment, Kemp's teammate Skip Schumaker called for the award to be handed over to Kemp...
